Ninja Spirit to be arriving in the US on May 14 - Image 1We earlier announced that Ninja Spirit has already been released in Europe. Now, it seems that this game will also be heading to North American Wiis this May 14. You can purchase a copy for 600 Wii points

The game was originally released on the TurboGrafx-16 by NEC. Ninja Spirit's storyline revolves around a ninja named Moonlight who discovers that his father was murdered by another Ninja thus his mission to avenge his death. As the story goes on, more details about his childhood and the circumstances regarding his father's death are revealed.

The game is a side-scroller with seven stages or chapters. The standard formula of beating the weaker minions till you get to the big boss at the end applies to this game. There are four weapons Moonlight employs in dispatching his enemies: The katana, the shuriken, Bombs, Chain and Sickle . Each of the weapons are upgradable and if that's not enough, there are various items that grant Moonlight various ninja abilities.

Ninja Spirit is a pretty decent side-scroller and is a cult-classic in its own right. It looks like this is a direct port of the original game since both PC-engine and Arcade mode are available. If you're a fan of retro games or played this before, be sure to check it out.
