Wii Fit - Image 1

Nintendo said last year that the Mario and Zelda development teams were working on new Wii games, so it's already a given that we'll be seeing new games in those franchises soon. According to Japan's Nikkei newspaper, that "soon" means "later this year". For Mario, at least.

The Nikkei report was a bit vague on the subject, but apparently Nintendo plans to release a new Mario game by the end of the year. The question here is whether it'll be a major Mario game or not.

Another new Wii game mentioned in the report was Wii Fit Plus, an online-capable follow-up to the bestselling Wii Fit. The paper was more specific about the details for this game, mentioning that the online feature will let users compete with friends and family, presumably by sharing and comparing fitness data. Wii Fit Plus will also feature more accurate measurements.

Chances are, both games will be in the spotlight during Nintendo's E3 2009 press conference, so hopefully we'll learn more on Tuesday.

Blah

I would hate to be a dedicate Wii'er because think of how much space you'd have to dedicate to all the stupid accessories. Boxing gloves, guns, rackets, bats, golf clubs, light sabers, oh yeah, not to mention the guitar hero and rock back stuff. I think the Wii is totally for children and less talented gamers. Argue the children thing then take a look at the Mature games that hardly sell at all for the Wii. Madworld looks out of place next to cooking mama's whateverucallit!

.

Since the Wii doesn't support DLC for games, that makes a convenient excuse to release a new Wii fit for morons. Hell, that could be the name! What's the point of online play in such a basic, crappy minigame collection based on bath scale usage? New mario game? Yeah, just what the Wii needs is more mario branded crap software. If it's another mario galaxy, it could be decent, but I'm expecting some stupid "mario (insert any sport here)" game.

pathetic

Nintendo even after admitted last year's E3 show was poor, featuring Wii tards on stage flailing wii motes around (is that supposed to resemble playing insturments?) Nintendo follows it up with mildly improved bath scale software and some dumb ass mario game. The leaders of Nintendo are seriously retarded. How long do they think they can "lead" based on hardware sales? Any company with loyal followers stupid enough can make profit. What the hell were they thinking when the designed the DSi? Overpriced obsolete POS!

wow

you guys are dumb. nintendo is #1 in both home console and portables. if the DSi is so bad, why did its sales beat all other consoles combined? duude I have a PS3, WII and a DS lite, so i'm not biased towards nintendo. I like my ps3 for the bluray movies, and the wii for the fun mario games and interactive stuff. Stop being fanboys and get over the fact that nintendo is winning amongst gaming companies. Thats a fact, learn to live with it.
