Niceness abound at the Best Buy Wii Launch

DaveWere you able to see the funny webcomic on the next gen console launches? Funny, eh? Interestingly, the stick-people scribbling artists' portrayal of the console releases isn't far from the truth.

Well, I'm not really sure about the artists' accuracy in sketching an image of the PS3 launch is a perfect picture of what really happened (although there have been a couple of shoving and pushing (and a drive-by shooting) incidents when the PS3 was launched), but you gotta admit, the Wii launch can be considered all warm and fuzzy as opposed to its competitors' console release.

Take for example, Michael Fahey's report on the Wii launch over at the Alpharetta Best Buy. He went there at around 10p.m., and he was welcomed with people asking if he's camping out, as they organized a list of interested Wii fans who intend to pitch their own tent outside Best Buy.

Then a Wii countdown clock was taken out by an employee because it's not needed anymore. Anyway, it looks like they had the time of their lives doing "some serious MacGyver shit," as they were able to discover the countdown clock can be set for January 1, 2007.

There were people throwing a frisbee, and a guy in tuxedo garb whom our source says "might secretly be a superhero." Then somebody from the Toys R Us launch sold an extra unit to a camper "for $ 10 above cost." Dave, whose car was broken into during the PS3 launch, was the star of the night - and he was first in line.

Wow, what can I say? It seems like the said launch was one big family reunion for people with a passion for gaming (or all things Nintendo, if ya want to put it that way).  And isn't it just wonderful? After all those flamewars and all, you know that there are still loads of gamers who will go the extra mile and actually be nice.
