At minimum you guys should post the results shown at the other big name console sales website: http://www.vgcharts.org/ I hear a lot of negative stuff about nextgenwars and their methods, and at vgcharts you see a very different story: XB360: 7.19 million Wii: 2.48 million PS3: 1.01 million What will be interesting is to see which of these two sites are closer to the truth. Either way, it's best to have an article showing both sets of numbers until we find out which one was more legit and can be trusted in the future.

I don't know why this is even being reported? The problem isn't with the demand, the demand is VERY high. The supply is low. It just proves that Sony is keeping their word. They promised to ship 1 million by 2006 and there is still 6 days left before the end of the year. These numbers are not as reliable anyways because most other sites are reporting that Sony has 950,000+ and some reporting that over 1 million have already shipped. Let me remind you that when the 360 launched, there was no shipping. It was close to 3-5 months before new shipments arrive. It was simply sold out while Sony's launch continues to provide, although small, yet effective shipments. And I truly don't believe you owned one. If you have tried Resistance on it you would not have sold it. Let alone GT HD...

none of these are accurate. they both use random number generators that follow a trend of sales in a week by week period. So these are highly inaccurate and are very much estimates. The only numbers that should even be considered are the ones released by the companies Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo themselves.

vgcharts is closer to the numbers sold then nextgenwars. As far as it is, Microsoft has yet to sell 8 Million Xbox360s, they have shipped nearly 10 million. nextgenwars doesn't show any data from where they get their sales figures while vgcharts gets their data from the weekly sales figures that the respective companies release. As far as of now, less then 8 million Xbox360's have been sold which is underwhelming low from the 10 million target. While the PS3 has already shipped and sold over 1 million.

Like I said before, these are not always accurate. They update their numbers with true sales reports every few weeks. As of now, the numbers may increase by 2 thousand every few seconds, but these are not accurate, they are just randomly generated. They then update the numbers every few weeks with actual sales numbers to be reflected. So it could be that 300,000 were sold in 7 days, and that is what it reflected. However the 360's numbers seem to be only 9 million shipped, not sold.

Think of it this way. The PS3 is using brand new technology. (Cell Processor, Blu-ray drive.) The 360 is not. (IBM Processor, DVD-Rom drive.) The Wii is not. (Slow IBM Processor, DVD-Rom drive.) You really have to give Sony a standing ovation for keeping up thus far. The 360 had shortages for months...and for what? I hope their 'next-gen' DVD drive wasn't what was slowing down production. The Wii is really using extremely outdated technology (minus the controller..er..bluetooth really) - they should have been able to shell out 9 million consoles from the start.

Cell processor is an IBM processor for one... AND is not a gaming processor... its a multimedia processor (made for later use in TV DvD players Blue Ray etc) making it not the greatest for gaming and the 360 CPU is almost, if not JUST AS FAST and much more easy to make and design for... so saying the name of the Cell processor says nothing also the wii controller is not just "bluetooth really" its an xyz excellerator with wireless (bluetooth)

And Wiis and PS3s are selling like crazy. 360's old news, and doesn't offer innovations (Wii) or superior power and functionality (PS3). It's stuck in the middle with nowhere to go. Once Sony can get their weekly shipments up to par, there won't be much to stop them with so many amazing titles coming out. Assassins Creed, Lair, Motorstorm, Getaway, Eight Days, Ratchet and Clank, the Naughty Dog project, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Metal Gear, Tekken, Gran Turismo, GTA 4, White Knight Story, Devil May Cry, and even a few 360 titles that are coming over like Splinter Cell and Lost Planet. BTW. The people saying the 360 CPU is more catered towards gaming than Cell obviously haven't looked at the games. It's like claiming a Civic is more powerful than a Murcielago. Developers have been not only telling us, but showing us that the PS3 is a beast. Resistance: 40 players at once. Gears of War: 8 players at once. Nuff said.

The name is different, but they are two DEFINATELY different processors. The Cell processor has 8 cores, 7 of them for gaming. They separate the work load over those 7 processors at 3.2Ghz. Yet, the 360 Processor (which is called the IBM Processor) has only 3 cores which separate the work. In the long run, the PS3 has much more potential in doing complex calculations and other physics work.

.... is as much of a Gaming Processor as any other. Don't believe all the hype about how easy it is to port a PC game to the Xbox360. Fact is, nothing is easy especially porting a game. For example if a game was so easy to port to the Xbox360 then why do 100% of PC ports to the Xbox360 look like garbage compared to a PC? Ill tell you why, it has to do with the architecture of the processors. The Xbox360 is using a Triple core PowerPC processor from IBM. PC games are designed with the x86 architecture since thats what the majority of PC desktops use. Don't for a second think that its simple to get x86 games to work properly on a PowerPC processor. If it was then Transgaming Inc would have been able to get Cedega to play PC games on PowerPC systems. The advantage of the Xbox360 processor is that it manages its own workload. This is both a disadvantage as well, as PC ports probably wont use this ability. If you noticed, 90% of PC games show little advantage of having multiple cores because the game isn't designed for it. Games like half-Life 2 still has very limited support for multi-core processors but the source engine is in beta testing for multiple core support for its release on the PC, Xbox360 and the PS3. When it comes to gaming, its easier to program for the Xbox360 since you let the system manage the workload. But for games, you will see more get done on the PS3 since the power of the Cell processor will allow more objects to be seen at one time. Those who believe that games on either system will never be drastically different are wrong. Games like Warhawk wont be possible for the Xbox360 because it just doesn't have the processing power necessary to calculate the hundreds of objects on the screen. Not even a high end PC can do it. If you ever played Garry's Mod for Half Life 2, not even a Conroe Core 2 Duo can keep a steady frame rate when you explode 20 barrels at the same time. I tested this on a SLI 7950GTX 512MB system with a Extreme Edition Core 2 Duo and the graphics cards were able to output well over 100+ at 1600x1200, but once the barrels started to explode it dropped down to 12fps before gradually going back up to 100+. As long as the processor has to do all the physics calculations, thats where the limitation of the Xbox360 will be shown. This is why companies like Aegis were attempting to provide a dedicated physics chip for games to use. This is where the power of the Cell will really shine as you can dedicate one or more SPEs to full time physics calculations for everything and have more SPEs left for everything else.

Gears Of Wars is one of the most popular multi player games of all time behind Halo 2. It sure is owning Resistance right now. And you think no one is buying 360s? The premium bundle sold out this Christmas in every game store in my city. More 360s sold than PS3s and Wiis combined this Christmas. Sure, supply for these systems are low but for a one year old system they sure did well. Lost Planet and Splinter Cell 5 are 360 exclusives. Assassins Creed and GTA4 are coming to the 360. I for one take ANY press release with a grain of salt. Sony is notorious for claiming "units sold" and "units sitting in a warehouse" as being the same thing. They released a PR last week, wasn't it? Claiming they had sold over 1 million PS3s. Or maybe it was more BS, I dont know. I know for a fact their numbers on the PSP this summer were complete bull*****. If you listened to sony they were apparently moving just as many units as the DS was, even though the DS/DS lite was consistantly sold out and cost about a third as much. It just didnt add up. The way it seems, the companies are saying they're selling more than they actually have, and VGcharts/nexgen are saying they've sold less than they actually have. So, use your own common sense and figure it out. While we'll never know when the PS3 count ACTUALLY passes/passed the 1 mil mark, we at least know they're in the area. I'm surprised with nintendo, they were certain they were going to move 4million wiis in 2006, but they seemed to have fallen a little short. Let's see the official numbers come January.

For one, the Japanese developers dont care for the Xbox360 since it sells like ***** over in Japan. You have to have the hearts of the Japanese for them to make games for a console. The US may have a different taste for games than the Japanese but the US consumer likes Japanese products. every game which has been released on both systems (360 & ps3) the 360 wins. look at CoD3, it got a point lower on the ps3 version because it graphics were so bad compared to the 360. (ign literately said it was a fantastic looking game on the 360 and wondered what happened with the ps3 version). almost every game i look at for the ps3 has washed out colors. motor storm, resistance, cod, tiger woods, the list goes on (its just not me, unbiased game reviewers also notice it too). the 360 is a much better system to get as of now. and dont say they arent selling because i know 9 people that just got one for christmas.

you're right about CoD3 and a few other cross-platform games for the 360 and ps3 right now. the answer is simple: the games are made on the 360 because it's easier to code on right now, and ported over to the ps3. of course ports aren't going to be as good as the original. all in all, it's the developers that are too lazy to learn the ps3 architecture right now. give the ps3 a year (like the 360 has had...i mean be fair and competent here) and then we'll compare notes.

I am a proud owner of a Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 and a Playstation 3. I'm happier with my Nintendo for one reason The legend of Zelda The Twilight Princess. At second place I have xbox 360 because of Gears of War and as for Playstation 3 Resistance is good but the other consoles have better games. So Playstation 3 fanboys a game is great to look at but at the end of the day it is gameplay that matters. I'm still waiting for the must have game for Playstaton 3 hopr they release Metal Gear soon enough

PS3s still sell because demand is still slightly greater than supply. It just came out. XBOX 360s are selling much better, and $ony got whooped in sales. Can't wait for the PS3

Proud owner of a Xbox 360 with a Wii joining the roost in a few weeks time hopefully. However, the PS3 is the machine im really excited about. It has had a slow start sure, but supply hasnt been great. Game-wise im glad that Resistance is good, it is a strong start for Sony. At the end of the day, I know that my Xbox and PS3 will be used the most for the sheer number of AAA games like MGS4, DMC, Tekken, FF, GT5, Halo 3, PGR4, FM2, Ninja Gaiden 2, DOA5, Virtua Fighter 5, GOW2, GRAW2 etc, where the Wii will have a few gems amongst a pile of crap like the GC. Unfortunately, the PS3 isnt out here for another 3 or so months, and those AAA games arent out until Q4 2007 or sometime in 2008, so giving sales estimates right now is nothing. As much as I don't like Sony's monopoly in the gaming market, I know the machine itself is going to be pure quality in the long run and will be the overall victor. As a multi-format gamer, I say "Bring it on", because as gamers we are in for another golden age of gaming.

I also agree with the first guy because I am also owner of all 3 systems. Playstation 3 has great graphics especially Resistance wich is a good game but I am still waiting for something better. So far Ps3 has been a dissapointment. Xbox 360 has its first real great game in my opnion and that game is Gears of War. One of the best games I've played. Last the Nintendo Wii. I have to say altough not a great game Wii Sports kind of grew on me, so did Excite Truck. I love the controller. But as you guessed it The legend of Zelda is the best game. Even better than Gears of War in my opinion. It needs voice acting that's the only thing missing from the game. Some guy put a comment about e-mailing Nintendo to re-release the game with voice work. Yeah, lucky for us the "unbiased" reviewer made sure to connect the PS3 with a component cable for a "fair comparison" rather than HDMI. We wouldn't want to go comparing the best the 360 can do on that game with the best output for it that the PS3 can do.. It might give a biased impression. If IGN really wanted to be fair they would have looked at component and HDMI output. Even in a fair comparison I would expect a quick and dirty port to be weaker than the original. Chances are EA disabled features and tweaked configs until it ran, and then started working forward again in whatever time they had left.

You forget the simple fact that just because a game is announced and supposedly for a certain system, things change all the time. After less than 6 weeks on the market, the PS3 system is easily available as a bundle, with less than 800,000 units sold worldwide, less than 400,000 in the U.S. Unless the PS3 can prove its worth very soon, many of these games will be ported to the 360, made 360 exclusives, or canceled altogether. The new Final Fantasy game (1 game not 2) are basically the same thing as older versions, new tweeks to gameplay and graphics. The Devil May Cry series has always sucked, getting worse after the 1st one. Metal Gear 4 and Tekken are good but will likely go to the 360 later. I've never heard of Heavenly Sword or White Night Story but wouldn't expect them to become a sleeper success. Gran Turismo got turned into a demo for some reason, why would they make a full game after that and the Gran Turismo for PSP has suddenly disappeared (vaporware?) Halo 3 the ONLY exclusive for the 360? Did you hear? Grand Theft Auto IV is coming to the XBOX 360 first. The list of exclusives goes on: Gears of War, Star Trek Legacy, Dead Rising, Dead or Alive Extreme 2, Saint's Row, Fable 2, Viva Piniata, Crackdown, FEAR, that's not even counting the games that came out before the PS3. Also sales are really picking up in Japan after the release of Blue Dragon, another 360 exclusive. If tumbleweeds roll by that often you must live out in the desert, away from any reliable information.

actually, GTA4 is coming to both consoles at the same time. also, you forget that, in major metropolitan cities, the ones that get the largest shipment of consoles, the PS3 is selling out as soon as they are in stock. i live in Los Angeles, and every story i go to that sells electronics (from Best Buy, to Fry's, to EB Games), they are sold out of PS3s. Sony has manufactured roughly 800,000 PS3s. they have sold out. what does that tell you? 1.) people are buying them. 2.) when they make more, people will buy them. i don't know what you're saying about the FF games, as FFXII is vastly different from any previous incarnation, and 13 looks to continue to move further away from the norm. also, the PS3 is getting *TWO* FF's, the 360, none (for now). Devil May Cry proved that 3D action games could be just as fast paced and frenetic as their 2D counterparts, and defined the genre for the entire generation. games like Prince of Persia (1-3) and God of War, owe a lot to Devil May Cry. DMC2 well and truly sucked. 3, however, brought it back to form. and just because you personally think it sucks (i'm not a fan of the series either), doesn't mean there aren't a legion of fans that will rush out and buy each and every iteration (just look at the Madden fans). do yourself a favor and look up Heavenly Sword and White Knight Story. Heavenly Sword is very similar to God of War in terms of gameplay, but the main character is a female, and there is no Greek Mythology setting. i played it at E3 this year, and it is truly a fun game. White Knight Story is an RPG developed by the same folks that brought us Dark Cloud 1 and 2 (the 1st sucked, the 2nd was great), Dragon Quest VIII, and the upcoming Rogue Galaxy. this RPG looks phenomenal, with amazing animation and detail. look it up and watch the 6 minute gameplay video. it's amazing. Gran TurismoHD got turned into a demo because Sony was going to rape you with microtransactions, but the fans revolted, and Sony changed their tune, instead opting to release GTHD as a free demo. i'm sure the PSP will eventually get a GT, but not until much, much later. the 360 is the Genesis of this generation: a quality console, but hampered by a lack of the big name titles. the Playstation 3 is the SNES of this generation: slightly more powerful than the Genesis, but with a much larger and more recognizable gaming library (ie, Final Fantasy and Metal Gear). both are good and well worth your money (i played Crackdown at E3 this year also, and man, that game needs to get more coverage, as it's awesome. i'll probably get a 360 in February just so i can play it). now, back to the Playstation 3 proving it's worth: in 1 month's time, the console has sold nearly 1 million units. the only thing hampering it's success is it's availability. if Sony continues to pump out significant numbers a month (say, 400,000 a month), by March, when a lot of it's early big hitters come out (Virtual Fighter 5 is going to the 360, but it's still coming out on the PS3 a full 6 months before the 360 version, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, Motorstorm, Lair, Tekken 6), and those types of titles move consoles. even without killer titles (Resistance is a great game, but not everyone likes FPSes), the PS3 has sold close to a million units. what do you think is going to happen when it finally *DOES* have those titles? sit on store shelves? i don't think so. You are all chatting horse*****. Seeing as ive had a 360 since December of last year and have gotten various games over the year I spit in the faces of people who claim that. GRAW, Rainbow 6, Dead Rising, COD2/3, PGR, Kameo, Oblivion, Condemned, the list goes on. Just because a lot of those games didnt achieve such commercial success as GoW doesnt mean *****. Ico for the PS2 was a great game, but pricks like you lot didn't buy it, meaning that it was forgotten about for a long time. You "new" gamers make me sick, you don't know anything about this industry and all you do is spread fanboyism with your petty arguments. GROW THE ***** UP, YOU LOT ARE KILLING THIS INDUSTRY.

So it is indeed two games, not one. Secondly, they said that they wanted to try and make FF 13 "play" like Advent Children, which sounds pretty amazing. So the demo we saw may very well be scrapped by the next time we see the game in action. They think that they might be able to realise this on the PS3, so time will tell. But it's definitely not the "same thinga ll over again" But then again, sequels usually are, so I don't get what you're complaining about. (Metal Gear 4 and Tekken are good but will likely go to the 360 later.) I don't see anything "likely" about that. That's wishful thinking on your part. " Normally I don't mention gasmes like that, since they're the first in their series, but Heavenly Sword and White Knight Story especially (check out a trailer for WKS) wowed a lot of people. (The later was also a out-of-nowhere title that just popped up and surprised everyone.) Xbox 360 has a a lot of good games but Gears of War till now is the best game that you can get on the 360. As for other games on the 360 Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and F.E.A.R. are worth mentioning. As for the Playstation 3 I own 5 games but till now the Playstation 3 is a let down. Resistance: Fall of Man is the only gme till now worth mentioning. I'm sure that things are going to change because there are a lot of great games coming to the Playstation 3 but till now it's been a dissapointment. As for the Wii it's been a surprise to me. I am a Sony Playstation fanboy but I don't bash other consoles and seeing I own all trhee systems I must say that the Nintendo Wii is very fun to play I am addicted. But if we are speaking of great games The legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is the game I agree with that other guy that even tops Gears of War or anything else on the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3.

I recommend MotorStorm to your shopping cart. I think the International version with added multiplayer is going to rock your socks off. The game is great just buy playing the japanese version, but it needs a bit more flesh arounf the options. The one thing though they need is just that online playmode. That is going to be total online carnage. I also recommend NFS Carbon if you liked Underground. It is just the same thing with not so HD graphics(on any version), but the gameplay is solid fun just like on the x360 version.

....Vietone That was an Impressive Post......You actually Saved me From writting an Explanation For this....but i could Have Never said it this good My self ;) By The way......I,d like to Bring to Everyones Attention....That the 360 RPG Oblivion.....actually performs far less than the PC version powered by A 7800 GTX....in terms of qualtiy.[number of objects,detail,shadows].....and frame rate..[it plays the same framerate of the 7800gtx....yet the GTX run the Game at 1280x1024 and at a mucher higer quality] This is not the fault of the Developer....as they had enough Time to Tune the 360 Version...which makes me suspect that the 360 GPU actually is comparable to a 7800GTX if thats the Case....that would make the PS3 RSX a step ahead.....as it is already Known that its superior than the 7800GTX. Oh.....as for the RAM issue....my freinds....the developers can easily use the HDD as a virual Ram...its very easy realy since every PS3 has an HDD....so it may actually End up having more available ram.... well...better get goin... :)

You seem able to ignore the obvious signs PS3 will be a failure, instead saying the 360 is? Guess what the 360 is still in very high demand but Microsoft can keep production up so the demand is constant. They continue to sell much more than the PS3 also. You still can't walk into a store and find a PS3 most of the time, but it was only on the market for 6 weeks and production was purposely limited by sony. I am constantly notified of PS3s available online, while last year it was March before I could find an XBOX 360 online. Ebay prices are now barely above retail. Keep covering your eyes and ears and mutter to yourself: PS3 will win! I didn't waste my $600! PS3 will win! All these great games are coming! Mark my words, half of the games will go to the 360 in addition to the exclusives already for the 360.

Not enough PS3 sales, and therefore, not enough potential purchases. How many PS3s will be sold in a year? I don't know for sure, but the way things are looking they'd be lucky to sell 3 million, and 10 million by the time production is ended (which I guarantee won't last half as long as the PS2.) It's simple business really. Do you make a big budget 10 million dollar game for a system which sold less than 800,000 worldwide or a system with 10 times that number of systems? There have been no announced 360 exclusives that later have come to the PS3. Oblivion is a great XBOX 360 game that will come to the PS3, but it won't be nearly as amazing when it finally comes out, (just like FEAR.) These were never announced as 360 exclusives by the way. $ony may have made 800,000 PS3s which sold, but compare that to any other system. As I recall, the Sega Saturn also had very strong sales after launch. After 2 years, Saturn was dead. PS3 is showing all the signs of another Saturn. Japan is warming up to the XBOX 360 and since Blu Dragon came out in a bundle for about half the price of the PS3 sales have steadily improved. The XBOX 360 is selling much better than the original XBOX, especially in Japan. Just because you can find the 360 on a store's shelf doesn't mean they don't sell. Don't even compare sales or demand because the XBOX 360 had high demand much longer than the PS3 when introduced last year, and the number of 360s is TEN TIMES how many PS3s there are. If sony works hard and gets their s*it together (not likely) there may be only 8 times as many XBOX 360s on the market. I don't need to dream about getting great games on the XBOX 360 as the list of current PS3 exclusives keeps getting smaller and smaller. Nobody I know is the least bit impressed with the PS3, and it while it can do some things the 360 cannot, (Linux, internet, blu ray) it really doesn't do anything particularly well. If you think it's a computer replacment, you're wrong. You can't even add Wi-Fi to the 20 gb model at all. If you're rich and stupid enough to own both Figboy, why do you care?
