Newsflash: It's still cheaper to import games! |

Ó
This isn't news in the sense, this is more of a wake up call to those still paying against the odds on your games. We've almost forgotten about the issue on whether you should import games or not, whether it's entirely legal to do so or not, and thirdly, whether it's less of a hassle to do so -yup, you've guessed right - or not. Well, we decided it would be good to remind you how easy it is, and explain the savings you can make. Of course, you can only do this if your console is region free (Xbox 360/PSP) or if you have a console from another region. If you head down to Play-Asia, you can pick up Xbox 360 games that are $20 less than US retails price ($59), and remember, most Asian games are made primarily in English, so you should have no problems. Knowing this, you can profit from the information, why dont you start importing your own games and sell them to friends and family. Think, for every 2 to 4 games you buy and sell, you can purchase a new one for yourself. Remember though that in order to keep it fully legal, you have to pay all taxes and duties.
This argument has almost disappeared, ever since the large manufacturers (Microsoft, for one) started making their consoles region free. Surely this should have pushed import sales, but it seems the makers don't care that they are loosing revenue. If you want to save even more money, you could try places like eBay in international territories, so you can pick up games at new prices - discounted and even purchased at auction prices.

evrything is always a lower price on ebay so i would check there first. Most psp games are crap so i wouldnt care about how much i would save.
plus wouldnt it cost a ton to ship a game from asia to the US(not literally) cause ordering stuff off websites in the US generally charge money for shipping and tax so you might get it up to the original price or near the original price of the game buying from asia

Now if you trully want a region free console(no region games) then wait for a PS3, or get yourself a PSP or NDS.
PS3 FTW!!!

Uhh, the PSP IS region coded. Australian PSPs can't play US movies, I've tried it.

For games (which is what this article is focusing on), the PSP is region free. I have two Japanese PSPs (white) and games from all 3 regions. All of them work perfectly.
Also, when they refer to Asian games, they're taking about Korea, the Philippines, etc. Japan is seperate from the Asian market (they are their own market).

Paying money for games?
Now that the 2.6 downgrader exists... arent we ALLL pirating free ISO games?
No need to buy games anymore everyone.
We can ALL download our games for free while it lasts. ;)
Reply
Also, for region free console? for psp even the 2.6 firmware can now downgrade, load devhook and play any games they want for free, ALL games work ( that I know, I tryed like 30 games, even the new games like loco roco or capcom classic collection remixed work perfect ).
And for the xbox360 ninety nine nights is not on stores, dead rising is not in stores, blue dragon is not in stores, lost odyssey is not in stores... where are the good games? in developpement, so don't buy an x360 before 2k7 or end of 2k6. Anyway the chip to play burned games will surely come soon ( I mean a good one ). And anyway buy a ps3, it will be homebrew friendly with linux pre-installed on it: YEAH a game console running an OS!! let down the "media-center extender" in buy a full "media center" for only 100$ more ( yay sony, I was not disapointed with my ps1, nor my ps2, so how could ps3 disapoint me
So viva EbGames with used games for less and Viva the stupid people who always buy the new games and reSell them to EB the same week the hit the store

And to all you *****s who think it's fun to illegally download games, what do you expect to become of your beloved console and the company that makes it? You do realise they get all their profit from game sales, don't you? No wonder Sony is in a sh*thole financially. At this rate, the predictions will come true, and Sony will be gone by 2014, especially if Blu-Ray fails.

You really think sony is going to let you play pirated games with linux? Or let people run anything they want on it?
Wait to be dissapointed...
I'm really surprised you weren't disapointed with the ps2...so much was promised for it. So little was given.
Same will be for the ps3.

Ninty Nine Nights has been out in Japan and asia for about 3 months. When they say asia they are talking about the version of the game not who makes them. Asian versions are normally the cheapest versions of games. 360 asian games retail at $39.99. Nighty Nine Nights Asian is in complete English also. Alot of asian games have full english support since more chinese know english than they do Japanese.

and yea 3 dollars is cheap for shipping but im not one who likes to wait on things so i based it off of my own opinion.(express or rush shipping tends to cost a lot and thats what i use not that i have a lot of cash)
and yes illegal games are definitely bad. they take up a crap load of room for me and i use a laptop so its pointless to have isos on it. i dont own a HDD that i can connect thru usb that holds XXXgb on it and the hdd for psp is too much and the memorystick 4gb cost $180(yes a normal sized memory stick made by sandisk i think)
so isos are cool, illegal,fr ee but the memory sticks that can hold an iso cost as much as at least 1-2 UMD games and holding isos takes a crap load of space on your computer if you use the isos thru usbvia irshell and devhook(or whatever loader u use).
