gabeValve Software">Gabe Newell, head of Valve Software who's responsible for giving us the much-raved about Half Life 2 Episode 2 has given us a hint of what's to come in the future. In an interview at CVG, Newell reveals that there are interesting things that will happen in Episode 2. Some of them include the part when the Vortigaunts will play the role that Alyx played in the first episode. Another revelation in the story is though the G-ManÂ’s power on you is weakening the Combine hierarchy will take more notice of you.

But we'll stop from there, since there's one interesting part in the interview that caught our ears. Asked about his take on the next-gen platforms, he said that the PC is going to continue to be the developer's primary focus. According to him, it's been quite a challenge to exploit the next-gen platforms such as the Xbox 360 and the PS3. But what about the Wii? Newell said "The Wii is more of a challenge because of its input - thatÂ’s something that weÂ’re going to have to work harder to understandÂ…and the Wii is the thing that is both furthest outside and most exciting, because of the controller."

Newell admits that they still don't understand how to take advantage of the Wii platform, but believes there's a lot of potential for it. For him, "it's very important to work well on older hardware and also take full advantage of new hardware." Although speaking primarily for the PC, it seems the possibility of bringing Half Life 2 to the Wii isn't just a dream. It may take a while, but Newell hasn't replaced the question mark with a period just yet.
