Poland-based games developer, Nibris, has released one screenshot of the enigmatic, gothic horror game for the the Wii -- Sadness. Personally, this is one of those Wii games that really caught my eye and I honestly can't wait to play it. Maybe the black and white feel of the game got me intrigued, or that the plot is really intellectually stimulating. Nevertheless, this Nibris project has caught the attention of the gaming community.

In case you aren't familiar with the upcoming Wii game, this horror game is meant to scare the player by atmosphere and not by bloodlust or violence. The game is being directed by Stanislaw Maderek, and it takes place in 1914 Ukraine when The Great War (aka World War 1) is just about to take place.

The story will feature Maria and other characters that the player can control. The game tackles psychiatric issues such as schizophrenia, narcolepsy (a condition characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness) and nyctophobia (the pathological fear of the dark). And for a game that tackles such subjects, they couldn't have picked a better era. During the early 1900s people couldn't publicly talk about psychic problems and Psychoanalysis was still considered taboo in the field of medicine. Intriguing and enigmatic, what more could you ask for in a video game.

On a more personal note, we would like to thank Jak for the heads up.

Looking forward to it as well...

My only fear is that the devs simply don't have the funds to make the game they want to make. Well, and that they might make a crucial mistake in gameplay or something without realizing. It wouldn't be the first time that happened. But the the storyline, the black and white thing, it all sounds great. I hope they manage to hold their promises.

You got one thing wrong, folks...

Stanislaw Maderek is not in charge of the game, he is a young director who is responsible for the trailer and/or potentially the in-game cinematics. I think it is not your fault, though. The guys from Nibiru are not extremely good at English. Stanislaw Maderek, in case you don't know it, is the creator of well-known Star Wars parody 'Stars in Black'. Also, you can see the trailer for Sadness (in HD if you like) on his page : http://stars-in-black.pl/mpg.htm There are also some other of his creations. Personally, I recommend Stars in Black (bottom of the page), EduROM (basically SiB II in form of a commercial), Imladris (another Star Wars parody, shot at RPG convent Imladris). The Annansi Boys and Magiczna Kula commercials are also good. Now go see his movies!

FnA!

Finally, Nintendo has a potentially worthy horror game! The 'Psycho-horror' sounds like the Lovecraft game: 'Call of Cthulhu: DCotE' (A damned cool game, BTW). #4 - I wouldn't hit that if I were you... The TEETH aren't that inviting.

Sounds like Cthulhu.

Like #7, I also like CoC: DCotE, and this game seems to be just like CoCDCotE. Except of course, the mythology. But it was based on 1920, I think, and it's pretty close. Also, it had pretty scary & disturbing atmosphere, not that much gore... I'm so lookin gforward to this.
