Castlevania Judgment - Image 1

Last April, Castlevania fans felt their hearts do cartwheels as a Castlevania Judgment trademark was discovered in the vaults of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Database for Konami. After that, we were met with a placid calm.

That calm is about to get frenzied as we hear news that Nintendo Power has in its hands not only details, but actual screenshots for the game. And what do you know, it does have surprises in store for us, and we're sure it's just the tip of the iceberg.

So, what do we know so far? Well, for one, said trove of treasures were found in the latest issue of Nintendo Power, so what we can obviously abstract from that is that Judgment will be headed for the Wii.

Apart from those, they also revealed the characters that will be gracing the little white console, as well as weapons and a general environment of the world it will be set in:
  • Characters: Dracula, Simon, Alucard, Shanoa, Maria Renard
  • Classic subweapons: holy water, magic spells, dagger, boomerang
    •     subweapon use still depends on hearts
  • Remixed classic Castlevania tunes
  • Set traps, destroyable environments, enemy monsters interfere with battle
  • Nunchuk controls character movement, Wiimote used for motion attacks
Interesting, interesting, don't you guys think? Anyway, we'll leave you to your own mulling over this. But before you do, let us leave you with one of the images (shown above) from Nintendo Power "proving" that Castlevania Judgment is upon us.

» NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Im a CV fan since NES - played them all - My favs CSOTN and CV II - Simon - I thought Castlevania 64 was a screw up by Konami, I was wrong- THIS will be the biggest screw up they will commit. They can still fix it if plays story line like the originals and have this fighting feature available.

This is a horrible looking idea. I've been a fan of castlevania since the NES and this is probably the worst looking concept they have thrown out there. And I thought Lament of Innocence and Castlevania 64 were bad. lol. I hope there is more to this than it looks :\

» Dammit!

Clearly the best option for a Castlevania game would have been a 2D side-scrolling adventure. On Wii, they probably could have thought of something useful to do with pointing and/or motioning, and because of the disc space, the adventure could have been HUGE. They're big on DS, but the potential was SO there for Wii...

could clearly see you using your wiimote to whip creatures.. real shame seeing those images here.

» well...

The Wii might as well take any exclusives it can, even if they're all crap.
