Resident E

Can it be that we'll be looking at the new Resident Evil from a different perspective?

Pro-G reports from Leipzig that Capcom's Jun Takeuchi said the next Resident Evil will use the third-person perspective previously used in Resident Evil 4. However, it may also have something a bit new in regards to perspective, but Takeuchi refused to be more specific.

When asked about Resident Evil Wii, Takeuchi said he didn't know if it will occur, though if he is referring to Resident Evil 5 on Wii, and not a separate Wii entry in the series, is unknown. He was still being mysterious about the series' debut on the Wii.

On an amusing note, Takeuchi said Capcom's production staff groaned "Oh god, he's gone and invented another one" at many of the new ideas for the new installment. And that remark is indeed promising for us gamers.

So they re-released the whole RE franchise on the Gamecube, and they made a two new ones for it. Sure they put out 4 on sony, but zero is still on GC only... So why wouldn't they bring out RE:5 on Wii? Are they trying to make it so no console has the whole franchise on it or what?

resident evil 5 is a major project and they are putting effort in to make it graphically amazing. In the last round the gamecube was more powerful than the ps2. This round the ps3 and the 360 are leading the way with power. It would be simply to costly to create a downscaled version for the wii. Im guessing the wii will get some spin offs. Maybe some form of shooting game.

Well, the only difference now is the fact that the PlayStation 3 and the XBOX 360 are far ahead of the graphics capable on the Wii. The Wii is basically a "beefed-up" GameCube.

I cannot wait until Resident Evil 5 on the PlayStation 3.

It has plenty of power it just doesn't output any 720p or 1080p resolution. Wii can handle RE5 and should have it. So then they will have the full show on RE.

the wii is only slightly more powerful than the original xbox. The xbox 360 and the ps3 are much more powerful. You cant develop a game for 2 powerful systems and one only slightly more powerful than last gen. The 2 hi def versions would suffer because of cross platform development. The wii is lacking in all the things needed for a nextgen game. Its not lacking in fun factor which is why I will be getting one. But im not expecting any graphical showcases from it.

We have yet to see the thing in the flesh, and from the screenies and videos going around, it's looking pretty damned fine. Even if it's not as grunty as the PS3 or XBox, doesn't mean it's not grunty enough for an RE game. It's damned fine enough to make a sexy looking RE IMO.

Also, the things that made RE4 so amazing wasn't the graphics. It was the atmosphere. Sure graphical effects count there, but so does sound, timing, story.

If they don't do a Wii version straight off, I think it's simply because of time and cost to support yet anothe platform, not grunt. I thnk it'd be a mistake as you could do some cool things with the controller. Imagine having to hold your hands out like a zombie at one point to blend in ;)

It's not that they can't make a RE5 for the Wii, it's that they're NOT GOING TO. They will not create a downscaled version of the game for the Wii. And if they did, the 360/PS3 game would take a major hit. Which would you prefer?

It would be much too costly to create two different RE at the same time considering the money it takes to develop a AAA title for these new consoles. It isn't going to happen

# Wow way to be a *****Guest 2006-08-25 03:54
So you know personally that your word is always right even though RE4 was insanly awesome graphics and that is was produced on a last gen machine and just for that it couldn't be possible to be produced on the wii because it's not an next-gen machine even though it is??? Now I still play re4 and I do have a hd tv with all the trimming and you know what it looks great so tell me again how it's not possible to make it for the Wii when it'll look fantastic on it even with a nice big tv.

I don't believe it's impossible for RE5 to be made for Wii, just VERY unlikely. Anyone that thinks for a second that The Wii even comes close to 360/PS3 in terms of graphics is dreaming. I don't doubt that Capcom will pull every bit of power out of the Wii, but it's just not even in the same league.
