EA Games have revealed more details on the next installment of their Need For Speed series for home and portable consoles alike. Dubbed the 'next-generation' of the Need For Speed series, Need For Speed Carbon will have many new features when compared with the older NFS titles adapting to the change in street racing trends. Possibly the most noticeable new game mode announced today was the ability to face the ultimate test of your driving skills on treacherous canyon roads.
"We pride ourselves on our ability to reinvent the franchise and continually uncover new and exciting trends in car culture. Canyon Racing is a real test of a driver's skill and we think it provides a fantastic game play opportunity to lean into" said Larry LaPierre, the game's executive producer.
What starts in the city is settled in the canyons as Need for Speed Carbon shoots you into one of the world's most dangerous forms of street racing. Street races are often broken up by hotshot police and that is when you take to Carbon Canyon, where you can make or break your reputation as a street racer. Need for Speed Carbon features what EA call 'the next generation of customization' which gives you the power to design and tweak your cars in just about every way possible using sate of the art 'Autosculpt' technology.
Along with the press release for this game comes the same teaser video from Game Informer which boasts NFS Carbon's Fast and the Furious style gameplay. Need For Speed Carbon will be available in November 2006 for the Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, DS, GBA, Wii, PS2 and the original Xbox. And if you don't own any of these consoles - why are you here?

You'd better be able to avoid it and still get most from the game, because NFS has been a fav to me since Underground 1.
By the way, the whole canyon thing seems an aweful lot like what was in NFSU2.. Nothing new.. :/
(And I think we can safely add PC to the list of platforms...)

The tracks will probably be similar to the roads you see in parts of California, winding roads along huge mountainsides.
