Zelda gets a musical makeover - Image 1For those who love music from Nintendo's Legend of Zelda series, then you probably know about the ZREO project. If not, then stick around, as it's about the love for music, and the dedication to make a dream real.

ZREO stands for "Zelda Reorchestrated," and is comprised of individuals who were hoping to take the music from their favorite game series and transcribe them into an orchestral form using their own skills at technical and musical manipulation.

While it did happen to be shut down for a short while, the site's back up and making quite a killing with its digg rating, featuring all their old tracks, as well as some new ones for people to download... for free.

So far, they've added a new soundscapes collection to their downloadables, with a host of sites... well, hosting torrents and compressed folders of their music. Call it open source orchestra, or call it the revival of a great site, but Zelda fans and music lovers should not pass up the chance to listen to an synthesized orchestra that plays everything from Original Link to Twilight Princess musical goodness. Enjoy!

So true. Although some of the midis in TP were quite good this stuff just blows it away.

I was disappointed, personally. If you want to hear something more powerful find "Hyrule Symphony."

Meh, I dought these guys have endless resources or deep pockets to afford the best of the best to record the music.

For what it is its pretty great and shows exactly what a a proper score can do. The Midis in TP were good as its been said before fantastic music, but it could be so much better like these guys have shown.

While its undoubtedly pretty impressive what they've done, tbh I think I prefer the original renditions myself. Except for maybe Link's Awakening, the Mabe Village one is pretty good. I think Certainly The N64 and the Wii's MIDI capabilities were pretty good, and they have more character and more life in the music than these interpretations do. That said, they're still pretty good.
