Multicolored Wiimote, anyone?

Given the Wiimote's rather unique and cool features, it is only logical that the modding community has its eyes set on it. A couple of days ago, we showed you one specific mod that changed the backlight of the controller to blue. What we have for you today is a somewhat similar mod but much, much better.

Some guy named Wasuri has been advertising his creation on various forums and why not, his controller is indeed cool. He started with color red and then blue. Then he figured, "Why stop there if I can have four different colors blinking all at once?" And so he added green and yellow.

The result? Just two words: Freakin' sweet!

Sure, that looks pretty cool, but I bet it destroys your battery life.

LED's draw almost no power. It wont effect the batteries hardly at all. Not that it would matter, you should be using rechargeables by now.

I might do this. simple soldering. Only one i dunno is the A button. What to hook where.

Its really not that easy. Powering 2 leds from the one on the pcb of the wiimote itself wont work in all cases. There isnt enough voltage to power 2. 1 is always either messed up or dimmer. Finding an alternate power supply will work.

Ill post what I mean later today.

Amazing. A seemingly easy concept but i can't go as far as saying the circuitry was merely effortless

..

but i can tell you what was, the editor's contemptible choice of alluding words.

"Multicolored Wiimote, anyone?" As far as i can tell the wiimote itself is one color.. oh if he was refering to the lights then yes, they are multicolored.

I like how the colors follow the default color order for Wii Sports. Very nice. Any chance for a tutorial?

If they ever make a Black Wiimote, I'd probably do all red. That'd be awesome :)

I said "I bet" because I didn't really know for sure, but thanks for informing me. Next time, though, try not to sound so high and mighty about it.

Dude, first of all, patent the idea before someone else steals it. Next, send me one, or sell your idea (unless, you know, you have the millions of dollars and means of mass producing and selling them yourself) to someone and get them on the shelves!!!!

Although I know nothing whatsoever about modding, I don't think that any problems with power, or any others, couldn't be somewhat easily overcome. But anyways, it's an amazing idea, good job.

I don't think you can patent that idea, but I guess for the untold millions you could get it might be worth a try. Theres also a how-to guide to do it yourself here: http://www.wiimotemods.com/wiimote-led-mod
