MSN: [We] X360 won

MSNGet out of here even if for just one moment you thought Microsoft wouldn't say anything regarding console launches from rival companies. Of course they would say something, and what better way to do it than with a Microsoft-owned MSN article. While the article didn't mention specifics, the X360 came out as the victor during the earlier stages of the war.

"Retailers had a great four-day run and pretty much everything is gone. Sony dropped the ball and Nintendo didn't do that much better," the MSN article mentioned. The article then continued, "Retailers and analysts across North America confirm that the hottest selling gaming console this past weekend was the Xbox 360."

It seems that the article was based from the reports that there have been an apparent lack of Wii and PS3 stocks because of very high demands. "
Microsoft was the big winner. They had lots of systems and they had them priced right with game bundles that gamers were interested in," the article concluded.

To be quite frank, claims without details and from-the-same-corporation do not sound and smell quite good. If it turned out to be true, then kudos to Microsoft and its one year old next-gen console. But until Nintendo and Sony come up with official statements or until the Holiday is over (and statistics will start to pour), it is better to keep our opinions to ourselves.
..for now.

by hush404 - 2006-11-28 00:26
» yeah I was in a local game store yesterday

There wasn't a wii, ps3, or even PS2 to be found. The shelves were stripped bare but sitting in the middle of it all?? Oh about 40 xbox360s, with their fair amount of dust.

» MSN article?

So where the hell is the ACTUAL MSN article?

The source doesnt even link it.

At the time when ps3 launched, xbox 360's were sold 7 million units. Now the figure is 7,6 million units for xbox 360, 0,3 million for ps3 and 0,6 million for wii. So 360 sold the same amount as wii and double the amount of ps3. Of course people would've bought much more ps3's if there were enough of them.

» Meh..

As good as they try to sketch out Microsoft, to me this is another reason to dislike them.

by ERk - 2006-11-28 01:15
» Hey Microsoft!

Hey Microsoft! Don't you remember how *****ty you launch was last year?

by DeathFalcon - 2006-11-28 01:39
» I Read IT

If u read most of the articles on MSN Games you would relise just how stupid this one complains about them being Biased as if this article right here isnt. The quote that they had the right bundles was an actaul quote in the article so if i was to quote you right now it would mean that THIS IS MY OPINION, no its not. A company saying that competetors consoles SOLD OUT is a good thing, seems like it makes it more desireable to me.

» X360 sells truckloads here

Maybe that has something to do with that special promotion they arranged: buy an X360 now (399€ for premium edition with two games and an extra controller) and simply return it by the end of january.

Nice try to shape the holiday sale statistics. But what will you do with the piles of returned used X360 in february, MS? Probably dispose of them to keep them on the "installed base" statistic...

by Planet - 2006-11-28 01:44
» Forgot to mention

Of course you get full money back then - 2 months X360 completely free (package including 3 monts free Live Gold btw).

I am currently thinking of doing that just to play GeOW. :)

» why the ***** this post?

I bought an xbox 360 last week and returned it last weekend... ( free location of 1week )

I was REALLY disappointed, the hardware is bad, it'S looking like an old PC ( 166 Mghz ).

And the games and demos are only "blood spilling" games, nothing more deep!!! I dislike it even more for that...

So I'll buy a ps3 ( with a warraty of 3 years on beat buy for 99$ not THAT much for THREE years lol ) with genji!

Lair/heavenly sword and bladestorm are the next ( I know the last one is also on x360, the the hardware is gay on the x360, I'll play it on my ps3 )

by sen*****su - 2006-11-28 04:50
» what an idiot

lol youre so stupid

"blood spilling"? What, did you just download the Saints Row demo and call it a day?

Most of the games are sports, racing, adventure, and RPG. I guess FFX was too bloody for you, or maybe it was the Phantasy Star Universe demo. lol, *****

I hope you do go out and get a PS3, that way I can laugh at you in a year when youre stuck playing mediocre games on a failed console. I bet that Genji is awesome too!! I heard it got really good reviews (lol).

lol, you say the hardware is "gay" on the 360 when studies have shown it to be better than the PS3s. But dont take my word for it, read away....

» Funny statements from MSn

In best buy, all units of the 360 were just piled up in the middle of the floor, but not one of them was picked up and this is when I returned a week later.

» *****ing QJ

Why is QJ posting 360 news in the PS3 section? Just because we all read the PS3 section and no one really even cares about the 360 section anymore.

» Xbox 360:

"The consolation prize, and proud of it."

I must admit, when I visited my local Best Buy last weekend, there were no PS3s or Wiis to be found, and stacks upon stacks of Xboxs all over the place. Therefore... Microsoft... um... wins?

Business is complicated.

by hardware - 2006-11-28 21:50
» hardware

euhm, considering the 'hardware' part, that could also be the looks of the console and the shape of the controler, semi-technicly speaking...

most of the 360 games are sports, racing, shooting... (aint even gonna mention rpgs, because they are mostly multi plat or just crap)

so its just what you prefer.. if you prefer looking at a crosshair 24/7 go buy a 360, if you prefer counting EXP's , hopfully, go buy a ps3

by Xbox is the best - 2006-11-28 21:52
» Everyone

Everyone that has playstation 3 is disappointed with it, they won't say it but it is obvious, it is not the xbox 360 killer sony hyped it up to be, no where near that, instead it is just the same as an xbox 360, except with a bluray drive and minus the well-developed xbox live, everyone else that has not played playstation 3 still thinks it will be better than xbox 360. LOL

They don't restock shelves ever?

by Mr. Common Sense - 2006-11-29 01:10
» new systems are always gone for months after launch

$ony won't win until they sell more PS3s. 7.5 million is a lot of gaystations to sell. They will have the smallest market share this generation. Developers will be reluctant to make games because there's not many said gaystations and they're hard to develop for since $ony saw no reason to make it easy because of their ego. Business is only complicated for idiots. More XBOXes in the market sold equals more sucess. And no that's not likely to ever change. On ebay the PS3 price dropped $800 in less than a week. What does that tell you?

by soapinmouth - 2006-11-29 11:44
» umm WTF

hmm who cares how many are left what counts is how many sold, ok heres some simple math for your simple brain there where 80 360s originally on friday than there are 40 left, ok now that store most likely had about 5 ps3's....hm lets make you figure this one out.
