MPlayer seems to be the name of the game this week in the Wiibrew
community.Not long after the latest release of GeeXboX, developer fcorbier has released a new version of his media player for the Wii, MPlayerWii.
This version has a speed boost on reading USB devices, and added support for the classic controller. Here's the changelog for MPlayerWii v0.06. For more information, please consult the program's readme.

so, by speed boost are we talking USB 2.0 speed? Or are we talking optimizations on the USB 1.1 speeds so that you "think" its faster. When really its just reading ahead and buffering more??
If they have unlocked 2.0 I would guess there would be news specific to that. So since I have not seen that yet, I am going to guess optimizations.
I'll pop in a stick with the Dexters03e01 to check out since I wanna re-watch it again ;)
I wasn't too happy with 0.3 or 0.4 so I stopped using the usb. But I just watched the entire show of the latest Fringe (couldn't find my copy of the Dexter again.. might be left in the office). No slow down, no freeze frame. Everything is smooth. I remember I had problem playing previous show on even the SD card so I guess they improved the playback support a bit.
Now if only rmvb will work... ;)
