Mp3 on your Wii

In another episode of Iwata asks, something interesting was confirmed by Satoru Iwata (actually by the guy he interviewed). Anyway, let's just jump to the pertinent quote to get this over with. Here it is:

"Iwata: I'm sure that for many people, just being able to see their digital camera pictures on the big screen will feel really fresh. Pictures they've only ever seen either scrolling through them on a 2 or 3 inch screen or on their computer, they'll be able to easily view them on their living room TV. People will get into the habit of sticking their SD Card into the Wii as soon as they get home after they've taken pictures. I think that will change the way people view digital camera photographs.

Kawamoto: Another thing which people have really enjoyed is the Slide show function. This allows you to play music as the console automatically displays your pictures in turn. If you put MP3 files in your SD Card, you can have your favourite songs as background music to your Slide show."

Did we just read that right? If we did read it right, then coolies. It's good that Nintendo isn't making us jump through hoops just to get the popular mp3 format to play in its console. This will probably give people who have digital cameras - or just even plain SD cards - more reason to save up for the Wii.

Other topics covered in the interview included stuff about the News, Weather Forecast and Photo Channels on the Wii; all neat stuff. Click on the read more link below to see the full Iwata interview at Nintendo's site.

Anyway, given the Wii's size and its slideshow feature, we're wondering if you can use it as a presentation tool at work or at school.

Hopefully they allow for network streaming over Wifi too, unlikely as it is.

Theres basically a channel for everything in the Wii. And soon I bet there will be a MPWii, or MP3 Music Channel on the Wii. If there is such a thing, it would probably have visualizations and a bunch of other cool stuff, sort of like the Windows Media Player 10 for the PC.

I've known this since september 14th. This is kind of old and took you a while to notice QJ lol.

Secondly, to #1, it's not pointless. That's one reason I got a 360 for slideshows. My family usually wastes money on putting family slideshows on all these dvds. Most of the time they have some sort of problem and go through like 10 DVDs just to get it to work. With the 360, PS3, and Wii you can just make a playlist of songs your family might enjoy and click "slideshow" and there you have it, a nice family slideshow in your living room for everyone to enjoy.
