Movies deserving of a game release? Hmm...

Imagine this as a dating sim...When anybody talks about game-based movies lately, there are usually hints of cynicism, sarcasm, and bouncy beach volleyballs in their tone. For now, let's try it in the reverse order, and see if it just might take off.

With that in mind, we let you know about this interesting discussion we picked up (via IGN), titled "Movies That Need to be Games." Now, before you launch into the usual tirade of movies and video games not being a viable mix (and pelting us with tomatoes and eggs), do hear out the idea on Kill Bill, which merits some thoughtful chin-scratching:

Few movies have blown us away as Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2 did, and as a videogame it could be even better. Imagine extending the story beyond the film by going back to the beginning of the Deadly Viper Assassins Squad and learning how to fight with Pai Mei. Imagine battling every member of the Crazy 88 squad simultaneously, while participating in brutal boss fights against the likes of Gogo Yubari, O-Ren Iishi, and Elle Driver. It almost became a game once before, but we won't let hope die... with potential this great, we just can't.

On a further note, we would love to see how this title will turn out for the Wiimote. Also included in the list were fan favorites like "Sin City," which was recommended to carry the artsy visuals of games like Okami, and sandbox-like play style of GTA. The full details are on the read link, but while you're here, care to share your crazy ideas for movies-turned-games? Go wild.

the kill bill movies are cinematic trash and sin city wasn't much better

I dare a videogame company to turn any of these into videogames: The Big Lebowski Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Man on the Moon The Green Mile Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory Edward Scissorhands Michael Jackson - Ghosts Puma Man

i agree about tarantino..

really he's not that good, kill bill was fun to watch but then i enjoyed 'crank' a lot more... that should be a game. oh wait, no it's just gta. that paragraph about how kill bill would make a good game is also reminiscent of almost every 'ninja' type game i've played... they've all got plotlines like that. those suggested films would be difficult to do... but quite amusing. i like the mgs series, those games are pretty much as close as you'll get to movie/game crossovers.

Don't most movies already have a video game?

Dude, you forgot 'Stir Crazy' :D Though a cell-shaded Sin City game would rock... TBH, I don't think there are any 'videogameable' movies that haven't already tried to take advantage of the medium. I think a Hellsing game would be kick*ss (not 'Van Helsing' movie, but the 'Hellsing' anime).

Willy wonka was made into a game. but of course the remake has a new name. Charlie and the chocolate factory.. :S yes.. they DID dare to make it, sadly.

What i think

I think a gone in 60 seconds game would be kinda fun, stealing all those 50 cars, how could the game go wrong. Pulp fiction could be good, possibly just focusing on the events of the 2 hitmen (Windu and Travolta), before and after the events. Leon, el professionel might be pretty good.

I forgot about the Charlie and the chocolate factory game, but I put -WILLY WONKA- and the Chocolate Factory

which is the old-school movie. Although I guess its a fairly similar concept, so then just strike Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory from my list.
