What else is there to know about Wii Speak, the room-to-room voice chatting on Wii? Apparently, you can only chat with those people whom you have traded Friend codes with. That pretty much eliminates any possibility of you running into some stranger on the voice chat feature. Obviously, this is also put in place to complement the parental controls features of the Wii.

Also, the Wii Speak accessory will come with a code that will let you download the Wii Speak Channel from the Wii Shop Channel for free. And when you've already put it in place, then you can already chat with your friends or family across town or across the globe. You'll even see each other's Mii characters representing them on TV.

You can try this out when Animal Crossing: City Folk comes out on November 16 - it's the first game that will host this feature. But don't worry, this will also be made available independent of the game via a separate Wii Speak Channel by December.

The Wii Speak accessory is sold separately at an MSRP of US$ 29.99, while it is also available as a bundle with Animal Crossing: City Folk at select retailers at an MSRP of US$ 69.99.

...And for the same price you get a Playstation Eye with much more features and better quality.... -.-

» Maybe so...

...but why would Wii owners want a Playstation eye?

All I'm saying is, that Nintendo rips off the customers again.

Wiispeak: Stereo Microphone, no camera

Eye: 4-way-Microphone, camern built-in, Eye capabilities

Price: the same.

So why can't Nintendo reduce the price to 20 or 10 bucks, when a competitor's product is much better and costs the same?

Nintendo would still make a lot of money form the sales, think about a how a normal microphone costs, like 5 bucks?

And additionally, much more people would buy it, meaning that the distibution is higher, resulting in more future games that support it.

Look, I'm not saying that this thing is crap, I'm just saying it's just too expensive.

why would you need to put a giant burger pad thing on the top of your tv, when it could easily been a webcam or a headset?

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

Sorry bud, you are comparing apples and oranges. The PSE is priced no different then the console. The PSE is priced at a LOSS. Sony sells software that can ONLY be used with the PSE. That is a licensing model that allows them to recover cost.

Nintendo has specificly stated they will not start with that model.

» Nintendo's business model

Create "new" game using crap recycled from previous games. Animal crossing comes to mind.

Introduce a $30 microphone that will only work with a couple games. Don't say it's needed for the game, but act like it.

BAM! Incredible profits selling RECYCLED games and overpriced, obsolete, and essentially worthless accessories! It works so great (for Nintendo) why would they stop?

Basically, it means Sony gives you more than you paid for, with Nintendo, you get FAR less.

That business model sucks, quite frankly......

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

1. What you described is NOT their business model. You are an idiot for stating as such.

2. Let's assume you were right. SO WHAT? what the f@ck do you care? What Nintendo is doing WORKS. Businesses are in business to MAKE MONEY. End of story.

You are so full of hate for ANYONE that makes a profit. Why? Who f@cked you up? Seriously, get help!

» People seem to have missed my point.

"So why can't Nintendo reduce the price to 20 or 10 bucks, when a competitor's product is much better and costs the same?"

The point is, if I ONLY had a Wii, why would I care that Sony's PSE is better value for money? It's not like I have a choice between which one to purchase FOR MY WII.

Is that any better? Have I made my point?

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

I understood you from the start.

The same can be said about many things. The iPhone is a $200 GPS AND SO MANY OTHER THINGS. So...WTF would I spend $600 on a stand alone GPS unit?

At some point in time, common sense needs to come into play and people need to compare apples with apples.

....and I don't mean Mr. Douche's level of common sense. I believe there are at least a few pet rocks with more common sense then him.

» @ ISOhaven...

I know YOU understood me. It's just like drawing blood from a stone getting others to. One individual in particular springs to mind.
