More Wii Opera browser speculations at CES

Wii Opera BrowserThe Opera Browser may be free for the moment, but it looks like Nintendo's keeping further details on it under wraps. At least that's what Wired's Chris Kohler noticed when he scoped out the Opera booth at this week's CES.

Chris was asking the Opera reps on-site just what Nintendo had in mind for its full release in spring, and they in turn answered him they didn't know, or at least Nintendo wasn't letting them in on the details.

As far as they understood, the Opera people weren't allowed to do any tweaking on Opera until Nintendo gave the "go" signal, which is yet to be announced.

Also on display at the CES grounds was the Opera browser for the DS, which is only available for Europe and Japan. When Chris asked the dudes regarding this matter, they said they did want a stateside release. The problem was, Nintendo also had the last say on the matter, opting to set up more partners for this attempt before a U.S. release.

Like we said, this being just Opera's Open Beta, we'll just have to wait and see what the big N has planned for it. For now, we invite you to keep yourselves alert for updates, and see how you can make your Wiimote moonlight for the PC.
