Ó

Peter Moore - Image 1It's been confirmed that Peter Moore, who resigned his post as Corporate Vice President of Interactive Entertainment Business in Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices division at Microsoft, will be the new President of EA Sports starting next month.

EA Sports holds a lot of weight representing some of the heavier titles in sports video games like NBA Live, NASCAR and Madden NFL. Apparently, his abrupt shift into the sports industry isn't all that surprising. He once held the position as Senior Vice President of marketing at Reebok International Ltd. and was also President of Patrick USA.

EA is excited to have Peter Moore. When asked about the decision to take him on, John Riccitiello, the CEO of Electronic Arts, had this to say: "I just wanted to get the best people I could find in the industry to drive that growth and try to put into place an organization that would be a heck of a lot faster."

Peter Moore also seems to be enthusiastic about the prospect of joining EA saying:

The people at EA Sports have created one of the strongest brands in the entertainment industry and John Riccitiello is building an organization which will extend the company's leadership to new platforms and new audiences all over the world. I couldn't be more excited about joining EA and moving my family back to the San Francisco Bay Area.

Looks like we'll be hearing more from Peter Moore very soon.

Wasn't this guy JUST bad mouthing the PS3 but a few threads back and now he's going to be possibly making games for the system?

Now how does that work?

Obviously this guy's got heat with Sony so how will that affect the EA-Sony relationship?

Something about this whole move stinks of MS trickery...
