Microsoft planning motion sensing controller for the Xbox 360? |

Xbox 360 owners may have something to look forward to this new year: a motion sensing controller. Details regarding how Microsoft plans to integrate this function is still unclear, but it appears that a first party add-on to existing Xbox 360 controllers may be the key to enable a motion sensing controller. To handle the development of the peripheral, Microsoft appears to have chosen a firm based in Saratoga, California called Gyration. After Gyration proved its mettle by developing the prototypes for the very successful Wiimote, the Microsoft-Gyration partnership sounds very promising.
We've seen mods like the Xilt (a mod that adds tilt sensing to the Xbox 360 controller), so most people won't be surprised if Microsoft does come up with their own version of the motion sensing controller. So far, there hasn't been any confirmation from Microsoft regarding the said motion sensing controller. The rumor went as far as a possible release date for the peripheral though - late next year. We'll keep you posted on this one, so stay tuned.

Whichever way we look at it MS is a company that exists to make money.

So i don't see this as benefiting them at all. And since this is a rumor i don't think we will be seeing this any time next year.
Multiplatform games seems to be better on the 460 than PS3, and some don't use the motion control. the only way i see MS getting this feature is if Sony's games start being better than 360 cause of the Tilt Axis and i don't think we will see that any time soon.

In the arcade arena there are many games that can benefit from the motion and therefore I do not think that MS will pass on the opportunity to offer an alternative controller with motion sensing.
If the investment is not too high and the potential returns relatively high then it will happen if we want it or not.

Its just going to hurt them in the end trust me, 360 doesn't need motion control if they did they would have added it by name with the success with the Wii.

I do not need it for the games I like to play but MS is not there just to please me. Its a mega corporation that is out to earn money..
The Wii has for so many people been a surprise and whilst others and we the gamers have been saying things like
"its no good"
"its a craze that will go away"
"its not a real gaming console"
Well time and reality have proven all of this to be incorrect. The Wii is here to stay and with its present user base showing no real sign of slowing down then it will only get better as Nintendo will invest more time and money.
MS and Sony are happy for people to have the Wii along side their consoles but should the Wii develope to a new level in the next gen then Sony and MS may find that they have a far stiffer competition than they expected.
Of course its all conjecture and only time will tell.
Anyway Stealth! have a great new year.

1. its way too late for the 360 to do this.
2. sony 1st said that their ps3 system would be motion sensing way before the wii was ever announced it, and yet the ps3's motion sensing was stupid.
3. the only reason it works for the wii is because thats how and why nintendo made the wii!
4. me as a "pro" gamer, i dont need nor want motion sensing, it makes you look dorkier than you already are!
*could you see a patch for Halo3 and you using the tilt / motion sensing to reload your gun or something? *
i dont think this will ever happen, microsoft has to be smarter than that... i hope...
