Microsoft: Nintendo has "more than just influence" over GoldenEye 007

James Bond with an N64 controller - Image 1When you have rival companies embroiled in a licensing conflict over a classic N64 title, trouble is to be expected.

Nevertheless, Microsoft has now claimed that Nintendo holds "more than just influence" over the shelved FPS title, GoldenEye007. Rare's George Kelion quoted Microsoft when he said that that the people at Nintendo were "the ones who have prevented it from happening.”

If that is indeed the case, then where does Activision fit into the picture? As the current holders of the James Bond license, Nintendo wouldn't have bothered pressing Activision for assistance; it would simply have canceled the project by itself.

In a case like this where politics and supposed money issues abound, one thing is for sure: regardless of who is actually responsible for the shelving of the GoldenEye 007 project, it's the players who have to suffer most.

Hopefully, the petitions of Major Nelson and the majority of players out there will get these companies to change their minds.

Instead of petitions to Microsoft, gamers need to send threats to Nintendo. Their greedy b1tch asses need a wake up call. Nintendo doesn't even gain anything from this.

wasnt golden eye a N64 exclusive? wasnt that what made the system desirable? could this be a minor reason why nintendo would say "no" to letting them use a game which made the N64 a good system?

now if Nintendo doesnt ever release it on Wii then we can complain. Rare made Donkey kong country as well, shouldnt they put that on XBL aswell?

isnt rights over a product confusing?

While my imposter has a good idea, Nintendo is far too greedy to get into any kind of business deal with a competitor.

I've got a modded xbox that I can play N64 goldeneye on any time using an emulator, the graphics aren't perfect but they're pretty close to the original. Before you start flaming me as a pirate, I'm not, I own the original N64 cartridge still.

720p on the 360 would be nice I suppose though I doubt that the textures would be redone for HD for it so 720p is really a nothing consideration.

In my country modding an xbox is fully legal so long as you're not using it to pirate games, as is format shifting (ie using an emulator to play a game you own on another console).

I don't think its not the money issue, I bet its easy to port this on 360 less than 2 months.

but I rather keep my own orginal goldeneye on my old school n64.

OLD SCHOOL IS WINING STILL.
