Michael Pachter: on Wii Fit shortage, possible effect on sales

Wii Fit - Image 1Wedbush Morgan Analyst Michael Pachter recently gave out a few comments regarding the current Wii Fit shortage in North America, as well as how it could potentially affect the sales of the product.

First off, Pachter pointed out that the shortage of Wii Fit is "one consequence of the weak dollar." He estimated that Nintendo shipped 500,000 copies to North America while Europe got around two million copies. He explained this by saying that "weÂ’re seeing companies ignore their largest market simply because they can make a greater profit elsewhere."

This is rather surprising coming from Pachter since he mentioned before that Nintendo of America would be running the biggest marketing campaign in the company's history. It would just seem more logical that Nintendo would want to recoup the money spent on that campaign instead of focusing on another market entirely.

With regard to how this current shortage may affect the sales of Wii Fit, he pointed out that "They [Nintendo] know that Americans will be just as fat a few months from now." He was basically saying that there will still be a market for the product when more stocks of the product become available in North America.

I don't need to make a comment about this like the above feel the need to but I'm going to. The truth is - We will... If you live in a city-like area, INDIVIDUALLY count the number of McDonalds, Starbucks, Burger Kings, Taco Bells, Dunkin Donuts, Checkers, Denny's, KFC, and Wendy's in your area. Now count how many Gym's are in your area (combine female only with normal gyms). I can GUARANTEE YOU that the fast food will out number the gyms by at least 10 fold. We are known for our need of 1,000 tv channels and a 24 hour McDonalds, why else do you think we'll be known as fat people???

I agree with everything he says on this report, Nintendo is a greedy company (and they have every right to be). When the Nintendo Wii was introduced to America it was $249.99 it was making a decent amount of money for Nintendo. Now with our bill's currency exchange about half of what it was when they released the machine and since the video game market doesn't raise the prices despite the increase in gas prices to fly the merchandise to America, they are selling them (after conversion) for about $170 (You still pay $249.99 but after conversion it's like it sold for $170 to them) for the same exact product that was sold at launch.

If video game companies allowed inflation on video games in the same way that milk and gas does, would you buy a Wii Fit for $150 so they can make the same profit everywhere? I know that I wouldn't...

"I don't need to make a comment about this like the above feel the need to but I'm going to."

Is that going to help you sleep better tonight?

Your comment about Americans (in regards to the issue at hand) is as worthless as michael's.

Also, we can eat 3 fast food meals a day and only work out ONCE a day to maintain weight. So your numbers are worthless. Plus, you don't have to work out in a gym. More worthless theories.

No TV service has 1000 channels. More worthless information.

So.... What does the fact that you agree tell us? Not much.

Wii fit is already proven to do the equivalent of a bath scale as far as getting and staying fit, so it's not especially useful for anything.

Patcher is right on about Nintendo once again screwing over potential North American customers with shortages with both the Wii and Wii fit. Sure, Nintendo isn't a charity but it's obvious they don't care. Nintendo is pretty much blowing any chances of winning in North America.

shutup.

There was nothing in your entire post that made sense, was informative, presented a valid opinion, or anything else OTHER posters do.

Anyone with a brain knows that to be false. Your lies don't work here.

"shutup"

Wow, how intelligent you are.

"There was nothing in your entire post that made sense, was informative, presented a valid opinion, or anything else OTHER posters do."

All of it makes sense. As for what posters do, including yourself, I refer to "shutup". I also reffer to ALL of your NO STAR posts.

HAHAHA!!!! What's the matter little boy? Did you come back from a family vacation where even your own family is sick of your crap?

Arcane's comments were worthless, his theories are worthless, the information is worthless, etc.

Basically, everyone ELSE'S comments are worthless, unless they worship Nintendo and the Wii!

Yes you FAIL to really say anything meaningful or truthful, and just resort to the usual "you're wrong" responses with no proof.

by Mister Common Sense - 2008-06-10 03:01
» well,

Wii fit was inspired by a bath scale, looks like a bath scale, and checks, guess what, your weight (like a bath scale!) BMI can be determined with a bath scale and simple calculations, but Wii fit does have the advantage of doing the calculations for you, since most owners are too dumb to.

A bath scale in itself will not improve fitness, just like Wii fit! It just measures your progress with real exercise.

Wii fit does do a better job of insulting the user and calling them overweight, however.

by ISOHaven - 2008-06-10 03:57
» WTF!?!?!?!?!

Nothing you said in that comment changes my last comment. The WiiFit is NOT the equivalent of a bath scale.

Like I said, you're lies don't work here.

"since most owners are too dumb to"

Just another douche bag comment!

"A bath scale in itself will not improve fitness"

Gee, how long did it take you to figure that one out? With the combined effort of the balance board (which does MORE then measure weight) and the software provided, users are given direction to help them manage a proper exercise routine.

In the end, you are too dumb to understand such things.

by ISOHaven - 2008-06-10 04:03
» WTF!?!?!?!?!

Ohhhh, I get it now, you are too stupid to understand what I wrote to begin with.

I can try to dummy it down for you but it was already pretty basic to begin with.

First of all, what I said was WORTHLESS had NOTHING to do with Nintendo. So your BS comment about anything being worthless unless praising Nintendo only proves that DID NOT understand anything I was saying.

So lets just look at one example of what I called worthless:

"We are known for our need of 1,000 tv channels"

I called that worthless, you obviously disagree. Thus, you AGREE that we even have 1,000 tv channel services. Well, as usual you are WRONG.

Now, you claim I need to provide PROOF that no TV service has 1,000 channels? Sorry moron, if you can't figure this one out yourself then you are dumber then everyone thought.

Why haven't you figured that out yet? Dumbass.

What the ***** are you talking about, seriously? The comment has to do with your comments in general.

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

"Why haven't you figured that out yet? Dumbass."

This is exactly what myself and MANY OTHER people have been telling you since day one. Your comment makes no sense. We have known this ALL ALONG. It's YOU that never got it.

This is either another example of your complete lack of knowledge of the English language or like I mentioned in another article, you have truly LOST IT!

Not only that but your comment is in the wrong tense. Have NOT figured it out YET even though my comment clearly shows what it is you claim has not been figured out YET.

This must be more of that higher education you received at the BEST TECH SCHOOL IN THE AREA.

HAHAHAHA!!!!!!! !!!!

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

At least you can admit you have no clue as to what you're reading. I even "dummied" it down for you and STILL have no clue?

HAHAHA!!!!!!

So, which part are you not able to follow along with? The part where a 1,000 channel TV service is a bogus argument or the part where that has nothing to do with Nintendo?

Or Both? I'm guessing both since you're usually pretty lost.
