MFE-Wii - open source media player using Linux on Wii - Image 1Nintendo Wii homebrew developer nuvalo has just released a new application called MFE-Wii that was made possible using Linux on Nintendo's latest console.

This is actually based on the MFE open source media player for GameCube-Linux. According to the coder, this particular version uses the same sources than the original with a few changes done on the kernel and the file system.

The program will boot using the ARAM file system method. Despite its great functionality, however, some important features are still missing. These include the DVD and the Wiimote function.

That's why you will be needing a GameCube pad if you want to utilize this application. MFE-Wii comes with a Readme.txt file which contains information on installation and usage as well as on the various things that you will need.

Be sure to read that first before doing anything to avoid any problems.
