After reading this scanned excerpt from NGamer Magazine, a lot of people have been wondering if Metroid Prime 3: Corruption will ship with a multiplayer function straight out of the box, or if multiplayer will only be available as a downloadable extra.

Well, Nintendo producer Kensuke Tanabe has already confirmed that Metroid Prime 3: Corruption will not have a multiplayer function, at least not in the same context as Metroid Prime 2. As this is the last of the Metroid Prime games, Retro is focusing on making the single-player mode as good as humanly possible.

Retro is still looking into the possibilities that the Wii's "always-on" broadband can bring to the game, so a few downloadable extras - levels, maybe weapons... Maybe even a multiplayer function, who knows? - are not out of the question.

I think it can work. Maybe Wii will support USB hard drives. Well I made a blog post about this awhile back...

Sure, the Wii has plenty of great games set for the launch date, but after playing countless hours of the DS counterpart on the WiFi connection, it's a no-brainer that multiplayer is a MUST. Sure, it could just come along later, but that eliminates a lot of the fun in it. I'm not so sure that I even want this game anymore. I was thinking that this would be a "killer-app" for the system, as well as a great intro game for the Wii's online service, but now, there's nothing we can do but wait...Sigh...Jeez. I'm not saying it'll be a bad game, and I know that the developers are giving it their all, but the Metroid Prime series has been evolving into a great competative experience, so why back-track all of a sudden? For shame, Nintendo. You should know better.

Thats what nintendo gets for being so secret about everything.

For the whole worked for Hl2. not really with the really slow release of maps, models and heck even Day of Defeat Source. You loose customers. Sure people would look forward to new content monthley kind of thing while they wait for the big jump.

They announced it wont have Multiplayer in that sense so im going with it. Hope they come out with something tho.

That really sucks. This is a major error by Nintendo I think, and I assume most everyone agrees, especially given the popularity of online play on MP:Hunters. Wow...Why would they do something so stupid..? Wow....Wow...

Wow.

they did the same thing with RedSteel. Because Nintnedo kept everything such a secret. Ubisoft didnt have the information to do a multiplayer for RedSteel. Which would have been sweet.. Im sure im not the only one who would have liked to kill friends witha sword...

Price you pay for being so secret about things.

Do I need to remind you that Retro said there WILL NOT be a multiplayer mode because they said there was already Metroid Prime Hunters, I think they even mentionned another Metroid Prime Hunters style game is in the works for the Wii. As for the multiplayer downloadable, its possible, they did say they will use the Connect24 feature to add downloadable extras.
