Medal of Honor Heroes 2 lead producer discusses 32 player online matches |
Ó
Electronic Arts is set to deliver more gaming goodness with Medal of Honor Heroes 2 for the Wii and PSP. The Fusion Team from EA Canada has been working on this title for a year now, and it looks like their hard work is paying off.
Lead Producer Matt Tomporowski was recently interviewed by IGN, and he gave out quite a few details any WWII-based FPS fans would undoubtedly want to hear.
First up would be the biggest news, some information about the 32 player online matches. While this was announced in the last E3, details were a bit sparse. Thankfully, Tomporowski has seen fit to enlighten the rest of the community on this.
The original Medal of Honor Heroes on the PSP had this feature. Because of this, the groundwork was already set for the current team. Tomporowski gave word that they "leveraged our technology and design as the framework for this, but we wanted to improve on the online experience and make it the best online multiplayer game on the Wii, with the most players at 32."
This is great news for players everywhere, he further expounded on this saying that they're really working hard to make good multiplayer maps, balanced weaponry, as well as providing popular game modes running at a smooth framerate.
This is all well and good, but the kicker is the fact that they're also planning to use a "continuous-joining server model," this means that players can just pop into a game even if it already started. Of course all of this would mean nothing if the overall product came out unplayable. You can rest easy with the knowledge that the playtest sessions are going pretty well as Tomporowski said in the interview:
We're super excited about how well the online multiplayer plays on the Wii and our playtest sessions often run well over their scheduled times with people trying to get one more frag in. We think gamers are going to have a lot of fun with 32 players online, especially because nobody has done it yet on Wii.
So strap up your boots, and get ready because Medal of Honor Heroes 2 is slated to arrive this November 6. This game could very well be the king of multiplayer on the Wii if it lives up to the developer's visions.

so another 3rd party is going online play and yet i thought that madden 08 wii had online features as well
i love u guys at ea, thanks 4 making us a cool game.now my only complaint is no voip chat support, this is a 32 player game and for clans voice chat is manditory, hell nintendo is dumb, mario strikerscharged has friend codes and for what.there are no way to communicate with people regardless so all the friends code thing ends up doing is annoy people and hindering online play.now in a game like mohh2 with 32 players online voice chat is mandatory,i for 1 dont want get my a$$$$ shot off trying to communicate with stupid text commands,NINTEN DO STOP BEING STUPID BBIITTCCHHZ AND GIVE US A MUTHER FFUUKNN MIC. god damn it,stop living in the stone age.i mean hell, 2 player football would have no point in voice chat but 32 players and no voice chat is honestly compleate bull $$hhiitt.EA there is a built in mic technology already in the wiimot so it doesnt realy matter if nintendo released a traditional headset because if u guys learn how to leverage the tech in the wiimtoe its self then wii can have vioce chat with the wiimote simularly to what was done with metriod prime hunters on the ds only they need to leverage the tech in a way that allows voice chat with in the game itself and not just in the lobby.SO GET TO IT NOW,WII WANT RESULTS NOT EXCUSES ,SO PLEASE FIND A WAY TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.
