Still, as much as it's good to finally hear a release date, some fans have been asking what is taking Nintendo too long.
According to a Nintendo representative, their plan is to let Mario Kart Wii be a standout title after the holiday season. As we all know, there seems to be a "void" after Christmas each year because most of the good titles have already been released. Nintendo said that Mario kart will fill that "void":
For the holidays we have a huge line-up of Wii games already, including Metroid Prime 3 Corruption, Super Mario Galaxy, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and Pokemon Battle Revolution. Fans will not be hurting for great games to play. One of the most common complaints is that the video game industry focuses only on the holidays and saves nothing for the first quarter.
Well what more can we say, but it's quite true.
Anyway, the Nintendo representative also discussed some of Mario Kart Wii's gameplay features. Of course, even though Nintendo will be releasing a peripheral Wii Wheel, it's not required to play Mario Kart Wii. players will still be able to play the game without it by using just the Wiimote's motion-sensing capabilities.
