We've watched a bunch of Mario Kart Wii videos, and we all agree that the game looks good at this point. And as it turns out, the Official Nintendo Magazine in the UK confirms Mario Kart Wii's good first impressions, giving it a score of 94 out of 100. Not a bad score, yes?The magazine's review also checked out how well the Wii Wheel performed. And the verdict? Almost flawless, in fact. The Wii Wheel is designed to let gamers turn the wheel to steer the vehicle. Pressing the Wiimote's 2 button will let them accelerate, while pushing the B button will prompt the vehicle to powerslide. It sounds pretty simple, and its simplicity will make it easier to perform tricks.
Speaking of tricks, there's one tricky element from the previous Mario Kart games that was removed, according to the Official Nintendo Magazine UK. Snaking, that rather game breaking technique that lets gamers perform constant speed boosts, is now reported to be missing from Mario Kart Wii. A simpler method of getting speed boost has taken snaking's place, which basically determines your speed boost by how long the slide button is pressed.
Whether the supposed elimination of Snaking is good or not will be determined by the players themselves, of course. More updates to come!
