Mario Kart 64 bug: Things are a lot faster at the Moo Moo farm

The second N64 game to hit the Virtual Console list, Mario Kart 64, was reported to have a bug - a Super speed Moo Moo farm. The people over at GoNintendo reports that they encountered the bug when they had a three-player game going on. Everything was going smoothly until they decided to race on the Moo Moo farm.

Apparently, every time they race on the Moo Moo farm, the game speed is about "double that of 150 cc". Some people already got used to the Moo Moo farm speed that when they are playing in normal speed, they found it to be too slow. Anyhow, to give you a clearer picture of how fast races are at the Moo Moo farm, check out the video below. And if you're also experiencing the same thing, tell us about it through your comments.

this happened on the forest track in the PAL version of MK64 playing on the actual console (at least I think that was the track if I remember correctly), but being PAL, the speed increase was not so huge. I cant remember the name of the track but it was the first of the star cup.

# Another bug maybe? check outGuest 2007-01-30 01:18
I don't remember correctly and I don't want to check out on the N64 in the closet... but on splitscreen multiplayer, is it correct that you ear only the audio from player 1? For example, you hear the bonus roulette only of the first player. If I remeber correctly on the original there was the audio also of the others... but I can be wrong.

Any idea?

Thanks in advance

Yeah, I remember Moo Moo Farm being faster than normal when playing with three of my mates.. I don't remember it being quite that speed though! 'll have to drag my N64 and see if I can replicate the posted video.

if you have a mono tv or if your stereo is not setup right, you will only hear sound from player 1. IIRC, player 1 and player 2 use different speakers for their sound effects...I forget if there's an option in game for this other than just "mono/stereo," but I know it's possible to do it either way.

I remember we used to notice that some races would go faster than usual...you always could tell by the light at the beginning... but I don't remember any of them ever going that fast (US version here).

Didn't bother us, though.

The only bugs I've noticed in the VC version so far is that there seem to be LOTS of audio glitches, especially during the victory ending. The audio seems to "skip" in places. Really annoying.

Definitely a bit late here, but that did, as some others already stated, also happen on the PAL verson of MK64 on the original N64. I can't remember exactly when and why but it also occured in 2 player mode at Moo Moo Farm, Yoshi's Valley, Bowser's Castle and DK's Jungle Parkway. It didn't happen always but when it did it was great fun :)
