LucasArts Teams Up With Day 1 Studios For Next-Gen IP |
Ó
LucasArts has announced an agreement with Day 1 Studios to develop a new intellectual property for next-generation consoles. The new game(s) will have an emphasis on "ground-breaking gameplay" and "interactivity that is only possible with next-generation platforms". Day 1 Studios, who previously worked on the MechAssault games for Xbox, are hoping to bring "revolutionary" gameplay to players with the new IP. “The phenomenal technology created by Day 1 directly affects gameplay in extremely innovative ways— and it perfectly complements the engaging story and intriguing characters you’d expect of a LucasArts title,” said Peter Hirschmann, Vice President of Product Development at LucasArts.
Granted, the "revolutionary gameplay" talk is just PR buzz until we've seen the first fruits of this agreement, but it's certainly an interesting collaboration, especially when it's concerning a completely new intellectual property.
It looks like many publishers are hard at work creating new brands for the next generation of consoles. We've seen the announcements of franchises like Assassin's Creed, Red Steel or Gears Of War, hoping to really bring gaming to the next level. And although there's no indication yet of how good these games are actually going to be, we'll take them over another re-hashed IP any day.
Expect LucasArts to release details of the new title in the next weeks.
