No censorship hereFor those who are thinking that the term "freedom of expression" has been wearing thin, think again. A law against selling violent video games to minors has been struck down by the Louisiana district court yesterday, as it was "deemed unconstitutional and a violation of the video game makers' and retailers' rights to free speech."

The law firm Jenner and Block are the champs in this fight, and they aren't neophytes in this war, either.

Since 2003, they have been defending video game makers in various states such as Oklahoma, Minnesota, Michigan, California, Illinois, Washington, and St. Louis.

The court said that "the government has no authority to limit minors' access to creative works based on the general belief that those works might be 'psychologically harmful.'"

Porno is more less a natural MALE instinct, to view mating habits of human beings. and marijuana does more good for your body then harm. the ole 'everytime you smoke you kill brain cells' crap just dont cut it. everytime you breath this worlds nasty air, you kill brain cells dipstick.

If they ban games for minors, then you need to shut down movies, magazines, the internet, etc etc.

Its rediculous.

Its a fact, kids ARE impsred by stuff they see and play. but its also a fact, that the kid who pulls a shotgun gta style and blows someone away was just plain crazy. had nothign to do with the game. even when the columbine kids ran around shooting other kids and yelling "ii call on you, pikachu!" doesnt mean pokemon "inspired" them to kill. they just used that to kick start contriversy. its intentional when someone does a crime and then blames it on videogames. i would, just for shts n giggles.

You want to get rid of commonaly bad things for children? then ditch politics, ditch the government, ditch religion, ditch anti-smoking commercials. instead, you pick on smaller things. games educate more then they corrupt. fact.

So if youre child is getting ahold of what you think is BAD games, then step up a notch and be a more responcible parent. whats funny, is that soooo many people try so hard to keep there kids away from bad games, as if it corrupts them, and they give the SAME treatment to religion. yah, religion CAN be bad, but its not the religion itslef that is bad, its the *****tards behind the bible that mess it up. doesnt mean the actual beliefe is bad. people tend to make GOOD things or NON-HARMFULL things look harmfull, when they really arent. "jesus" acoridng to the bible, died for mankind, and asks nothign from you but to believe in him. yet people smash it. so how can you REALLY claim something is bad, when most GOOD things you claim bad as well? this isnt a religous conversation, this is just an example. even if you dont believe in most religions. its a fact. people are morons, dumb people blame games, pot, and porno for criminal acts. wake up people, humans suck!

Think about this, yourmarried, and you got into an arguement with your wife/husband...whats the WORSE thing you can say to hurt there feelings, even if you dont really mean it? the answer is, "I dont love you anymore".

If your a white guys, and want to hurt a black man, what do you call him? you know. same with ANYTHING.

When a kid wants to leave a bad mark before he blows his own head off, whats the WORSE thing that HEmay only know to say? entertainment media.

Your sissys. man up and accept that people are *****ed up, not content.

» Violent Games vs Violent Movies

In my opinion, people get to express themselves in games. When ever I go to the movies, I see kids that came out of some violent show play-fighting and reinacting the events of the movie. So i think that violent games are less of a cause of violence and making people go crazy than movies.

» this isn't saying

that minors can buy it.. but they are saying they can get it.. if your parent buys it for you then you can have it.. with the law in place it is illgal to buy it for minors

No, it says "A law against selling violent video games to minors has been struck down"

Meaning there isnt a law against selling to minors.

Also, about the movie thing, think about what you just said....basicly, 2 kids come out of an action movie PLAY fighting. its called FANTASY. they are PLAYING. you dont see 2 kids exit an action movie then run around punching strangers do you?

Its the fine difference between FANTASY and REALITY.

REAL people understand that GTA is just a simulation of a certain lifestyle. in no way does it inspire them to beat a person down.

You know what inspires me to f uck other people up for no reason? good ole, kick the door down HARD ROCK/METAL MUSIC!
