Continuing the tradition of game-to-movie adaptations being some of the most head-scratching conundrums of all time is the announcement of a new actress being selected to play as Chun-Li in the upcoming Street Fighter movie from Hyde Park and Capcom.Who's the unlikely pick, you ask? None other than actress Kristin Kreuk who plays Lana Lang in Smallville. Yeah, that one.
While we can certainly think of actresses who seem more suited to the role - say Zhang Zhiyi for instance (Ed. note: or Charlene Choi) - upon closer inspection, it seems that Kristin Kreuk isn't that bad a choice.
Her profile lists her as Half Chinese, she's been nominated for the "Best Actress" position in the Teen Choice Awards, and she plays her role in Smallville pretty convincingly. It wouldn't be that far of a stretch to see her play as one of the most iconic characters in the Street Fighter series. Let's just hope they don't take too much liberty with the other elements of the game.

Kristen doesn't really fit the part...she's a small, nice, humble girl. And she definitely doesn't have the legs for the part...Eh, whatever.
There is gonna be another live action street fighter movie? This is the first I had heard of it, As long as they dont get that same hippy beach bum actor to play ken and jean claud van damnit to play guile. I think things will be just fine.
Wow, I was just flooded with memories of raul julia. A fine actor and human being. He played bison in the first live action movie I believe. I think street fighter was the last movie he made before he passed away :(

Street Fighter was Julia's last movie. Sad, he'll forever be known as THE M.Bison to me. He did an amazing job with the part.
Why not just cast a CHINESE woman to play Chunli since you know.. she is CHINESE..... this movie will suck.

Depends on who draws her. The one on the Wikipedia entry of Chun-Li (Shinkiro's art) looks similar to Kristin. However, you look at Udon's version of Chun-Li, and yes, Chun-Li does have a giant rack. lol
Watch out - I'm about to throw fireballs in frustration.
