In one of his latest articles, Kotaku writer Flynn de Marco bashed Games Radar scribe Matt Cundy for his second article seasoned with gay innuendo titled "Men Kissing Men." De Marco questioned the article's point and described the write-up as "poorly executed" and "bland."

Kotaku's writer also asserted that the article and others of the sort do a disservice to the gay community and do not help in heightening the visibility of gay gamers in the electronic entertainment community.

He then argued that the society in general has come to a point where gay culture has become part of everyday life, but conceded that in the gaming world, things are a little different and the progression may be a little slower than in other social sectors. Why is it that the gay community is always treated as some sort of seperate enitity from everybody else? Surely gamers are gamers and your sexuality has nothing to do with it. On a personal not i think Matt Cundys articles are quite funny and well written and not homophobic at all. Everytime the gay community condemns something or is unhappy with something it just reinforces to other people that they are looking for special treatment. I know in this case it is another writer moaning but It is OK to laugh at yourself people.

# Special Treatment?FreePlay 2007-03-16 03:11
The gay community is looking for EQUAL treatment, not special treatment.

How often do you see articles in gaming magazines or on gaming sites about '10 Game Characters We KNOW Are Straight' or something like that? No - it's always about gay game characters. And they don't need to do specials on straight gamers, because they're the majority.

When gay people complain about these things, it's because homosexuality is being treated as something freakish instead of something commonplace. Like you said, Why is it that the gay community is always treated as some sort of separate entity from everybody else? Surely gamers are gamers and your sexuality has nothing to do with it.

you are complaining that gamers should be gamers, and everyone is up in arms about this gay thing, but no one complains when its an article about women playing games?

take them for what they are, funny articles on stereotypes. where 90% of comedy comes from.

Shut the ***** up, De Marco... if gay gamers are no different than straight gamers, maybe you should stop bashing some stupid article and get back to gaming

In the country i reside in gay marriages have just been approved. What's next is that *****s will want to adopt of course. Can you imagine being adopted by 2 bumrushers or carpet munchers? This world is ****ed up. So who gives a damn about gays, they are diseased so let them suffer...

althought i dont agree with how you worded it (very juvenile) but i do agree with "homophobe" above. i think that name says it all...

seriously though, imagine being a kid that was adopted by 2 gay men. thats a bad deal. there was a situation like that when i was growing up in my school (only it was lesbians) and the kid caught h*ll for it all the time. sad but true. it would only be worse if it were men, being that society seems to be more accepting of lesbians than of gay men. it's just not a fair deal to the kid, it's not natural, wasn't intended by natural selection, and shouldn't be legal. call me a bigot, i say i'm realistic.

other than that, they don't bother me.
