Konami on why Dewy is a water droplet |
Ó
Just a few days after Konami released Dewy's Adventure in Japan, Siliconera was able to chat with Ray Hiyoshi, the associate product manager for the incredibly imaginative game. With past articles already covering how the gameplay works, it was certainly nice to get some info on Dewy's history.
According to Hiyoshi, the team who developed Dewy's Adventure - the very same people who did that other cute game, Elebits - were a "socially responsible group". Their environmental leanings were evident in Elebits, and this time with Dewy they ended up with another cute creation that's also eco-friendly-themed.
When asked about why they decided to put a water droplet as the main protagonist in the game, he only has this to say:
ThatÂ’s a good question, I actually donÂ’t know why a water droplet. I mean they decided to make something that looked cute. I donÂ’t know why the team came up with a water droplet to be honest with you.
One of the remarkable things that was mentioned in the interview was that Dewy's Adventure was actually in development before Elebits. Hiyoshi promises a more robust game, having spent more time and effort to create, improve and tweak the game.
We do hope that Dewy's Adventure will be launched in North America, with all the fun crammed into it: Multiplayer modes for up to four players, as well as an Edit mode where players can create their own maps and have them available for download. Yes, just like Elebits.
