Over at the PS2 RPG Site, Alex Donaldson has a very lengthy musing on the details surrounding the rumored move to the Wii of Square-Enix's Kingdom Hearts franchise, the pros and cons of having Kingdom Hearts ported to the Wii, and if whether or not the move to the Wii will add a sense of freshness to a story, that Donaldson feels, is getting old already.While this blogger has a different opinion as to the "freshness" of Kingdom Heart's plot, and the need of Kingdom Hearts to be "saved," this blogger does agree with a lot of his other points. This blogger also finds Donaldson's theories to be very entertaining and amusing. Now Let's go tackle the rumor first.
The problems with the Rumor, or lack thereof
The ending of KH2 implied that there will be a third installment in the series (if we gave more detail on the ending, then we'd be spoiling you). Moreover, the game has sold incredibly well. Donaldson thinks that the game is too successful to not have a sequel. But why a move to the Wii?
Donaldson says that the reason that this rumored move carries so much clout is that Disney has set up a studio dedicated to the Wii and nothing else. Add to that the fact that Nintendo and Disney both have a family-oriented drive, add the good relationship between Square-Enix and Disney, and we have a rumor that's definitely believable.
Why the series needs the move
Donaldson feels that because Square-Enix is not allowed to create new stories involving already existing Disney worlds, the series is in danger. He says that the series is rapidly running out of Disney Worlds to explore and Disney stories to get involved with.
He also got a bit tired with the gameplay mechanics and the plot of the second installment, and he feels that the Wii, and the fresh gameplay that the Wiimote introduces will help liven up the series again.
Not just the Wiimote
He goes on to say that it isn't just the Wiimote that's enticing about a Kingdom Hearts made for the Wii. Donaldson says that since Kingdom Hearts already is a huge fanboy cross-over fest, we should be open to the possibilities.
He asks us all to imagine Heartless invading Hyrule, and Nobodies fighting Samus...
...Promising isn't it? Of course this is all speculation based on rumors and this is just Donaldson being hopeful, but you have to admit, it's fun to have something to look forward to every now and then right?

Kingdom Hearts on the Wii would be wicked. The wii remote for the keyblade would feel so natural. And introducing Nintendo worlds would make a nice addition to the series... Lets just hope Square Enix decide to bring KH3 (or another KH game) to the Wii!
Kingdom Hearts has always been on the Playstation except for chain of memories. It should be on the ps3 because the graphics would be better on the ps3 than the wii and thats a big part of it. PS3!
Ok, there is no way that someone likes KH more than me but PS3 is the way that KH3 is heading... but i am keeping my hopes up for an other KH to come out for the Wii
Your points were moot and actually had no explanation of why you feel it should continue to be on a Sony console other than the fact that it has been already and that the graphics are better on the PS3. You just felt it necessary to blurt out "bla bla PS3" bla. Maybe you should try to be more open to what the article is actually talking about instead of spreading a veil of crap over the comments section, k?

That argument really doesn't work when there's only been three games. If it seems like a good idea, Square will move it. There were six final fantasys on Nintendo consoles, but they still switched because the Playstation seemed like a better idea to them. Oh, and while yeah they did try make them look good too, graphics were never a huge priority in the KH's or there would have been more FMVs and stuff to show off graphics. They were about the story more than anything else. Typically Wii owners are a bit younger, only people in their 20's (mainly) can afford a PS3, and while it will sell a few to them, the disney themes tend to push those guys away because they hate anything without torrents of blood gushing out of the corpses that should supposedly be littered everywhere. It's not aimed to the typical PS3 owner, so it would be stupid for them to release it on that, when the Wii has a much larger amount of it's target market.
i have a Wii, so whatever, but he makes a legit point. It started on the PS3, its a highly cinematic game...Graphics + RPGs kick ass... It should finish on the PS3. When I buy my ps3 it will be for RPGs, let's face it, I love my Wii, but Nintendo doesn't give a ***** about RPGs, and that kills me
I KH3 should come out on the PS3 and a spin off like chain of memorys should come out for the Wii. This way Sqaure Enix does not make the fans that bought KH mad because the game they made so big is not on the system that made it what it is. So I think KH on the Wii and PS3 would be great. Plus may be even the 360 could get a KH game seeing as the 360 has live Square Enix could make a MMO game that uses Live and so that KH game could be called the Key blade wars. So this way everey system gets a little KH love but I do not think KH III should go to the Wii. But I do think SE should share the game with the other systems just make them spin offs or MMOs.
The whole graphic deal means nothing really, because you saw how well the cutscenes look on Kingdom Hearts for the PS2 when the PS2 didn't have "ZOMG AMAZING GRAPHICS". Square-Enix knows how to make games beautiful even when they aren't using the best hardware available. It would fare just as well on the Wii as it would on the PS3.
ya wanna talk graphics and cheaper to work on there is the 360, i would prefer it to be on the ps3 because of brand name history, and sony has its own universes and wat not too, not just family friendly nintendo, i'ld say finish kh in part 3 and do all the worlds that havn't been done and the popular ones and move on, and start something fresh. btw to just throw this out there since its kh related, i wouldn't mind something lik chain of memories for the ds or psp.
That the Wii has far better graphics than the PS2. Also, they want to sell game, so pick the most distributed platform (or what will be the most distributed platform).

If u ask me, i think that KH3 should just b on PS3. lets face facts, KH & KH2 have been on PS2 for a while. It would b beyond retarded 2 move the series 2 the wii (especially since there hasn't been a KH game for the GC) and not PS3. Another thing, Wii is very underpowed (the graphics suck rhino balls) so y waste time & effort on a friggin' wii port when square can just put it on PS3. now I know graphics r not that important, but the wii? it could barely handle zelda; beside i want FF13 & KH3 on 1 console.

When thinking about KH3 on the Wii (or any KH game for that matter) control always comes to mind... Unlike in the PS2 games control of the Keyblades would most likely be controlled by the movement of the Wiimote... With that in mind, with a combination of button presses and movement spells could be cast. Also with the aspect of Keyblade Wars, this could also be put on the Wii, and it could be played over the internet. So there, no matter what platform Square-Enix chooses the game will be awesome in the end. Although I wouldn't go so far as to say that a Nintendo-Disney-FF crossover is likely, it would still be awesome, and we have to remember the ties between Square, Disney and Nintendo are getting better everyday...

I think the argument that the first KH games were on PS2 are kinda void. What about Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest? They been going back and forth between consoles.
FF went to the playstation after SIX games on Nintendo consoles. If they didn't see that as something to stop them, two games definetly won't. Besides, the Wii has it's userbase, not the PS3. Even if they don't move DQ and FF over because their user base may stay with the PS3, it would be stupid to put KH3 on it.
So why don't they just release it for PS2?

The Wiis graphics underpowered... funny stuff that.. Funny how things turn out. Nintendo Release a console better than whatever sony could , and then , you go saying the graphics are underpowered... Have you even played a Wii? No point asking , you would lie even if you haven't. Barely handle zelda, funny stuff thanks for that , gave me a good laugh. Zelda uses a fraction of the wii's power. I agree why waste tim on porting it to the Wii , they should scrap the PS 3 version entirely , and build it FOR the wii. You can't say that games don't move between consoles, because if you do , you need to get out of that rock you've been living under. Plus , since you say you want FF13 and KH3 on the same console , I'll laugh so much if Square - Enix Decided to move them both to the Wii , just to grant your Wish.
First off this is mostly a rumor but square did say that the next Kingdom Hearts game would probably not be on the PS3. This doesn't mean KH3 won't be on the PS3 but I think it would be a good idea if the entire series made the jump to the Wii. As far as those who played the first two games on the PS2 wanting it to continue on the PS3, well, I just don't see the logic in that: not all gamers are console loyalists (I had a PS2 and I'm certainly not getting a PS3) and if they were then the Nintendo and Microsoft wouldn't even bother making consoles anymore. Because of the PS3's pricetag I think putting KH on the wii will make the games far more accessible and if the Wii is going to get a squeenix franchise (they said they will be making games for all 3 consoles and want a win-win-win) then KH, with it's real time battles is the logical choice. As far as the graphics go, well, this is square we're talking about so the game will probably look good regarless. I wouldn't say that the wii's graphics "suck rhino balls" (because the wii is significantly more powerful than the PS2) but Lozmaster you're just being naive (oh wait, thats not naivety I smell, it's fanboyism). Everyone knows the Wii can't compare graphically to the 360 or PS3 and most people have just accepted that(because they're not graphics whores)

Now, while I won't argue one way or the other about which system the game should be developed for, I will say that I do find it incredibly insulting as a 26 year old to be told that the only thing I'm interested in is blood and corpses. I do consider myself a typical PS3 owner and I know from experience that most of my friends who play games are looking for game-play and interesting story. I feel that most gamers are looking for the same thing, something fun that will entertain them.
For those of us who don't own Wii's, is it possible to get a regular controller for the games on the system? Once I come home from work I want to sit in a chair and press buttons. I don't want to wave my hands around. I don't want to stand and do a jig either. I want to sit in front of my TV and watch as moving my fingers cause a unique and entertaining story to unfold before me. I've seen plenty of advertisements for beautiful games for the Wii but I don't want to be that involved in my games.
you cant put kh3 on the wii, it wwill ruen the whole franchise, and whos idea was it to put it on the wii, the ps3 has a better video card and bigger space, if they put it on the wii that will mean they will have to dum down the game so it would fit on the wii cd, god there so stupid!
Whichever platform KH3 comes out on, I will buy it. xD I mean, I'm not rich, but I'm not poor folk either.
