Just Wii: Canada's Wii pre-order stand

Ó

Rogers Video pre-order stand for Wii, by WarrenIt may just be too late, or we might just be blind. It's up for you to decide. Over at Go Nintendo, there's now a picture up for a Wii pre-order stand over at Rogers Video. For those who haven't heard of it, Rogers Video is a video and game store in Canada.

Now, the stand isn't your usual Nintendo marketing gimmick. There's no sign of the Nintendo logo, and you can definitely see that they're trying to position the Wii as the bridge for gamers and non-gamers alike. The sign says:

Wii will break down that wall that separates video game players from everyone else. Wii will put people more in touch with their games... and each other. But you are probably asking: What does the name mean? Wii sounds like "we," which emphasizes this console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by everyone around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.

It's great how they worded the advertisement for the Wii. Just one thing though. Checking Rogers Video's website doesn't show any indication of a pre-order scheme for the console. Either they're full up on pre-orders, or the link for it was being all ninja-ish today.

# advertisement...Guest 2006-10-09 03:08
The description on the advertisement isnt from the video store. Ive read that same paragraph from a nintendo document; although Im not sure if the sign is from nintendo or not. I also read that nintendo doesnt want their logo all over Wii products or advertisements. ... check out the Wii console box.

Unfortunately you still can't pre-order.

I was at Rogers video to rent a movie (Clockwork Orange) and noticed the billboard & got excited. When I asked someone at the desk, they told me that nothing's been established with Nintendo in regards to pre-orders and just have it placed there because management told them to.

It says pre-orders can being on October 3rd. I was there on the 7th when I asked this.

I'd say the management at Rogers Video didn't want to waste a printed advertisment.

# Wii Preorder SOLD OUTGuest 2006-11-07 08:46
As a employee of rogers video, i have first hand experience that the preorders were sold out in a matter of minutes, quite literally. They will be getting a number of consoles per store on the release date, however as of yet, the individual stores have not been told how many.
