Japanese Wiimotes being sold in California |

This snapshot was taken by one reader from gaming site Kotaku. The reader, named Kevin, sent in these queries as well:
I found a JDM wiimote in the Fry's Electronics in San Jose yesterday and snapped some pics of it. Any idea if they're compatible with the U.S. Wii? Are there any reports of other JDM wii accessories hitting the U.S. shores?
Logically speaking, these peripherals intended for the Japanese domestic market (JDM) should work with the U.S. model of the console lest Fry's want to get in trouble for selling them. But the main question here is that, why are they even selling these here?

Secondly, In Australia theres a huge shortage of Peripherals, we have a nice stock of games, and theres alot of waiting lists for the console, however the Peripherals are hard to find.. going from easy to hard to find is;
Easy
1.) Games
Hard
2.) Console
Harder
3.) Remote
4.) Component Cables
Impossible
5.) Nunchuck
6.) Classic Controller
It would seem that either Nintendo AUS isn't getting enough peripheral stock, or if retailers cant get their hands on it due to various reasons.
Either way, theres parallel importing via various sites on the internet, and since the peripherals are not region-specific there is no problems importing and using stuff from other countries.
Stuff waiting in lines, and waiting weeks to get your stuff... just order online from Hong Kong, or Japan and get it now...

my friend has a jap wii and 2 "jap" wiimotes
exactly the same stuff i can even use my mii from my "north american" wiimote on his wii and his on mine
so for all you tweeks who think you're special with jap wiimotes, you're not, you just have different packaging woopitidooo
now if only they made the wii region free...bah whatever we're getting a lot of japanese games here in english, worst scenario is just to get a jap wii, doesn't cost that much
