proven to be a formidable foe - Image 1Over at NeoGAF, a comment caught our attention:

Official Adverts on Japanese version of Wii.com and new TV adverts apparantly say Thanks to Japan for buying 1.5m Wii's.

Yes, that's a direct lift, so don't be too harsh on us with the spellings. But going beyond that, it ain't entirely impossible, but we have yet to see any of the said ads, or official number for that matter, after all, so we're not pinning this up on the wall as a definite stat just yet. But if that's the case, then all's well and good.

And it won't be surprising, really. After all, they have been leading the pack in the Japan hardware sales. However, we do wonder how they are doing with their bold prediction of selling six million Wiis by March. That's just a pebble's throw away, you know. If we add up the North American and PAL Wii sales with the Japanese number, have they then succeeded?

Hmmm... an interesting saga unfolding before us, indeed. And with Microsoft even agreeing to the path Nintendo took with the Wii, then Ninty can definitely sleep soundly knowing that they pulled this next-gen leg off pretty well.

» » Not to mention $5+ for 10yr old games....boy you Plumber Boys love to bend over for Mario

Stop calling the WiiCube next gen. It is an overclocked GameCube with a $250 motion controller. Question Plumber Boys...if Sony were to release a $250 dollar motion controller for the PS2 with an overclocked EE and GS...would we call it Next gen? I sure as frack would not...so why do you?

For any of you that have a WiiCube...right now I am sure that you are happy. Here is a prediction 4u and all other Plumber Boys out there.....ready? In one to two years you will finally realize that you paid $250 dollars to Ninty for a GameCube with a motion controller. Your games will look so dated and old...not just grafix, no AI, massive deformable environments, realtime weather, aging, time etc. (the new Star Wars is just the tip of the iceberg. Face it Plumber Boys....you have been douped. Meanwhile, I will be playing true next gen games on my PS3. And Xbots will be playing true next gen games with multiple discs on the 360.

In closing Plumber Boys.....

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA H a

$250 dollars for a motion controller...and people say that Sony is ripping off the customer.

Pathetic

» ah yes

the wii is a suped up gamecube

the ps3 is a suped up ps2

the 360 is a suped up xbox

wow and yet everyone wants to buy the Wii... hmm jealous that the Nintendo system is better. Me thinks so. It's okay maybe sony can make some games for the Wii so they can make some money. Or maybe they'll just put some of their games on the VC... you know they need the money..

» My games and future games will be in glorious HD...jealous...HA

Both the 360 and the PS3 are new systems not suped up xbox and PS2's. They are all multicore processors. You sir are an eeidiot if you think this way. Nintendo admitted that the WiiCube's broadway processor is just a souped up Gekko processor found in the GameCube. WiiCube developers where even given Wiimotes to use with thier existing GameCube kits. The 360 and the PS3's developers have all new SDK's.

R Plumber Boys really this stupid? R they?

WTF

» yes they are!!^^

Yup they are all suped uped last gen systems. HD I got the TV and I got some HD movies and tell ya what. It's nice but not the end all be all. I'd rather play a good game then play the same game that looks a wee bit better. Are Sony and MS fanboys this blind and stupid also?? Oh wait while you think about it I'll give you some crayons to write your responce out on. But try not to use it on your monitor

» lol

i'm guessing george is also one of those people who'd suck a sausage to get his hands on the newest vid card to slam into his power-tower to play cs source in 2*** res on his 30 inch lcd widescreen running at 5 billion frames /sec

do i hear someone complaining like they got some sand in their vagina when they see nintendo selling overclocked gamecubes like hotcakes, sorry i guess the rest of the world's insane and you're the only one who's perfectly normal, sorry jesus, don't throw me to hell for buying something i like

quit splashing your fanboy spooge all over the net queermos

ppl like you make me not want to talk about the ps3 and make me wonder what made you and i buy the ps3 cause i definately don't see the point in taking sides, i like what i bought, yes that includes the wii and yes also the ps3

lets clarify, does next gen stand for "whatever has better graphics" or "stuff thats released after the last gen that sets it apart from the prev gen", i think we agree the 2nd term is more fitting, in that case all the new consoles bring something new

so stfu about your "true next gen" whatever the hell that means, if you want realism in your fps', ship yourself over to iraq, its plenty real down there
