Star Ocean - Image 1It seems there's still some hope that Japan-only classic games will see their way onto the U.S. Virtual Console. This was reported on a recent post by Chris Kohler on Wired's Game|Life blog.

According to Kohler, he spoke to Nintendo of America senior VP George Harrison, who said that they are "aware that there are some very successful Japanese franchises that have a small following in the US, and that they could never be reached by putting these products out at retail."

Harrison added that they are open to the idea of releasing Japan-only games if they can "get them translated properly."

Harrison pointed out though that Nintendo of America still has its hands full working through the major games that have already seen U.S. releases, so while there is a possibility that classic Japan-only games will be localized and released on the U.S. VC, it may take a while for it to happen.
