Wendy's logo - Image 1Another famous franchise has drawn the ire of attorney Jack Thompson, as GamePolitics receives an email from Mr. Thompson announcing his intent to focus attention on Wendy's CEO Kerri Anderson.

Going into further details on the matter, Mr. Thompson was targetting the fast food chain's upcoming promo for Wii-related toys. As reported by GamePolitics, JT had deduced that since Wendy's was promoting the Wii, it was also promoting the upcoming Manhunt 2 game. On that note, there doesn't seem to be any Manhunt 2-related paraphernalia in Wendy's toy promo.

Here reads part of the sent email, with JT making mention of Wendy's late founder, Dave Thomas:

A dear friend of mine worked for Wendy's and with Dave Thomas closely for years. From that I know that Dave Thomas never would have tolerated the use of WendyÂ’s good name to promote NintendoÂ’s Wii, not with this game available on the Wii platform.

It will be remembered that JT has been attempting to block the sale of Take-Two's game for some time now, whose first installment (Manhunt) JT linked to a murder incident in the UK a few years ago. JT and Take-Two have also previously figured in a lawsuit regarding Manhunt 2's launch, which ended in a settlement.  As a point of clarification, this is just an email - there are no reports yet whether Mr. Thompson is indeed suing the fast-food chain. Keep posted in case more details are announced.

((Dave Thomas never would have tolerated the use of Wendy's good name to promote Nintendo's Wii, not with this game available on the Wii platform.))

Really? Would Dave Thomas tolerate the use of his name to advance the political agenda of one lawyer?

» The guys lost it...

I sort of understood what he was thinking against the PS3 and 360.

Didn't agree with it. Thought he needed hitting over the head with a sledgehammer for it. But I understood what he was thinking. But now the guy's against the Wii?

With the support the Wii has from the general public since it expanded the market. This guys probably about to lose all credibility he has with the mindless drones that believed him until now if he goes any further against it.

Seriously though, a friend of a friend? If he wasnt friends with the guy himself he wouldnt have a clue what the guy wanted.

Somebody propose a bill that specifically targets market terrorists like Jack Thompson and deems them liable for loss of license to practice law in the United States court system. He's out of hand and out of his mind, if this were the early 1900's he'd have already been treated with shock therapy and a lobotomy.

Remember you heard it from here first! Jack Thompson should be labeled as America's first official "Market Terrorist" with all of his constant embarrassing attitude towards the gaming industry and whining like a 5 year old spoiled brat who didn't get what he wanted at the toy store... constantly.

While we're at war with terrorism, Bush.... please add him to your radar and get him out of our legal system.

» blah blah wii my ass

Dude...so you're saying PS3 and 360 are all about violent games while wii isn't. Your opinions just as biased and unfair and Jack Thompson's. So you think suddenly he'll become unpopular because he insulted wii. He insulted locoroco but no one cared.

» Jack will come after you next...

LOL He will probably sue all of us for destroying his reputation or something like that. For somebody who goes around and says bad things about game companies (and now a hamburger place!), he seems to be very quick to get angry when people say things about him that he does not agree with.

But what do you think? Do you think that politicians still listen to Jack? Or are politicians smarter than we think they are?

God, shut up. People like you are really starting to piss me off on these boards. Gotta find SOMETHING to attack people on. He has a point, leave him alone.

» Official Statement

I want to make my statement official on the internet. Jack Thompson is a douche. He is a douche, and he needs to be shot and put out of our misery. I'll even throw the after-party upon hearing the news. He is a drain on society as a whole, he wastes taxpayer dollars with frivolous lawsuits, he harasses people unchecked, and he defames others without restraint even while attacking others for defaming him.

Again, Jack Thompson is a douche, and he needs to die in a very painful, preferably medieval fashion.

» Really?

Really, Jack? WENDY'S? Because they're giving away toys related to a system that will have a third party violent game on it - the only such system with parental controls? That's a little insane, dude. Next thing you know he's going to sue every media outlet that has ever said anything positive about Wii: Wired, The Wall Street Journal, Business 2.0, blogs like QJ, etc. I'm surprised he hasn't tried to sue Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo yet!

I would understand his problem if these toys reflected Manhunt 2, but they don't; the only games they reflect are Nintendo's first party titles, the most violent of which was probably Geist, which didn't even sell well.

» Jack Thompsons Motto:

"Games kill people, they're a deadly disease that will soon be a greater epidemic than AIDS and obesity combined, we should ban--...*checks news reports* GASP! A teenager punched someone!? VIDEO GAMES CAUSED IT! HE TRAINED ON WII BOXING! I SAID IT FIRST! I'M A SAINT!"

This guy needs to back the F#%K off of video games, and especially Nintendo! Of all the people to condemn, Nintendo? They produce the least amount of "KILLER GAMES" (As ol' Jack thinks of them) out of anyone else! What a dumb@ss, always trying to get on his little stand and preach how horrible video games are. Get a life.

» He just keeps getting lower and lower.

Honestly, after all these ridiculous lawsuits, it sounds like he just wants 15 minutes of fame...again...and again......and again. He needs a new hobby.

» the f***tard

We now have a second McCarthy, so maybe we'll see a Red Scare again :) *I'm talking about blood/violent games here, mind you*

» qwerty

maybe he is right. here is one guy who says video games are violent, and our response? Hit him with a sledgehamer, shoot him in the face, sell his children on ebay?? I think everyone here is just proving his point.
