Same thing with the music industry and ratings back in the day (about 20 years ago).

Is that a bad attempt at inserting a San Andreas pun in there?
This guy is a moron anyway. Grow up?? Many of us ARE grown up, and therefor we should have the right to play these games. What the hell is the point of this crap anyway. M for mature is already 17+, i say make it 18+ and the hell with the retarded AO rating, its not like someone who is 17 is going to get a seizure from this game while someone who is 18 will be just fine.

I guess what im trying to say is Jack Thompson can suck my *****, the arsehole. I hope manhunt 2 sells great.

The fact that the Wii remote adds another level of immersion only increases the twisted psychopathology that the game forces upon the player.
I read that the game designer/creator compared Manhunt 2 to violent horror films. While he may be correct from a content standpoint, his argument does not hold water when considering the potential impact upon customers. There is an immense difference between watching something be done and doing it yourself.
We don't need games like this that indulge fantasies that only sickos carry around in their heads. What's next? A terrorist game where you plant bombs in local supermarkets and crash planes into buildings full of civilians in order to promote your terrorist agenda? A game where you play a rapist that has to do as many deeds as he can while aluding the police? Where is the line drawn?
There are certain memes and immoral pursuits that should not be given mainstream attention. In regards to Manhunt 2, the only thing that needs to be brutally murdered is that franchise, which is at the same time both disgusting and unnecessary in the video game industry.

Wait a second, ManHunt 2 is going to be for Adults!? Wow! What a shocker! And here all this time I was thought it was rated "E." Nobody should really take to heart what Jack said, for example look at this line in his e-mail...
"Who was right about that kiddies?" Lol, he's just excited because for once someone is siding with him instead of him constantly being shut down. Every dog has his day, for Jack it took about 18 years.
...I still want this game though. PC?

As for Jack Thompson goes who in the heck gave this guy the voice of gamers. I mean really were does he get off telling the world what gamers want. Is he even an owner of a video game? I bet this guy even attacks the cell phone companies for adding black jack to his phone saying cell phone owners don't need to induce their gambling habits. Oh sorry don't wanna give him any ideas.
Long story short Take-two has invested to much time and money into this game to just bend over and take it from uncle Jack.

what I'm not cool with is being dropped by the
console makers. So what if it's rated AO, give us
the opertunaty to purchase it if we chose to. This
also scares off other game makers from making
AO games. I invite AO games with open arms.
If you don't like the content or your under age
done get it. If you are of age you should have
the right to purchase a copy, don't make up our
minds for us, we're not children.

and sold for console systems. If it doesn't
get released for the PSP, I believe I very
well may become a pirate cause I might not
ever purchase a UMD ever again. Not that
I'm cool with pirating games, not at all, just
thats how much it might upset me :)

It's pathetic how sly he's being in taking credit for the Manhunt ban. It was the UK's BBFC that decided to deem the game violent, and ESRB followed suit. Not because Jacko thinks so.
I don't think Take-Two will give up so easily. They will most likely remove the "unacceptable" content to have the ratings revised, but not because they think it's the right thing to do. They invested a lot of money and they will try to get through this.
As for violent games, they will always get more violent. Take-two is just ahead of its time and thus receives most of the criticism.
Jack Thompson, you better watch out. One of these days you're gonna get run over by a truck.

The only positive to come out of this is parents being more protective of their kids, which they are SUPPOSED TO DO ANYWAY! Game stores will also enforce strict policy to prevent selling it to underage gamers, DUH!
In the end, the only way it affects Take-Two is a frikkin Adult sticker on their game, and people will still buy it however they can.

1. Don't buy the game
2. Don't play the game
3. Enjoy other games that more suit you
To sum up.. were not forcing you to buy/play the game..
so why are you stopping us from buying/playing this game..
It just dosn't seem fair.. since WHEN (not if) i play this game i wont be directly OR indirectly affecting you in ANY way.
Take your concerns somewhere else..

He is only doing it for the money, and to make himself "popular/important".
Seriously, if you dont like the game, dont buy/play it. No one is forcing you to do it. Let ME/US decide if i want to play it or not.

Thats the most logical thing I can think of.

but video game, which is aimed at an adult audience and has a n according rating then it is bad?!
and on the "pun", when a society has porblems with sexual contact but no probs with violence then something is seriously *****ed up (in real life i mean, jannet jacksons pircing is veeerrry bad but a group of people advertising guns which enable you to kill each other, is okey? one of them even said that when the kids at columbine had guns so that hey could have defende themselfs)
till the situations is like that, i would shout my freaking mouth and think about advertising the rating system and ask parents when they buy underaged kids 18+ games how they feel about it, the best system doesn`t work if many don`t know how it works/ don`t use it
jackson you money *****, hate spreader, *****head and fear maker, something must have been seriously wrong in your youth! didn`t you get enouth acceptance back then so that you have to work against something many don´t even know

then i play it on the wii and life my normal life on, as a person who can make a difference between a gun/knife/chainsaw and a controller, maybe jack`s nervs have some disorder?

Well, of course Take-Two is going to gimp Manhunt 2 and remove the bad content. There's no way they can just -not- release this game, too much money went into developing it.
By releasing it, even with all the content taken out, copies will still sell and they will still gain some kind of profit, no matter how small. They need it.
Something definitely needs done about this, more adults own consoles than kids I'm sure. This is the game that I was going to dust off my Wii for, too. It's just going to continue sitting until SSBB, then, I suppose.
F*ck.

And another thing, have you ever played the Wii? The wiimote doesn't produce nearly as realistic action as you think it does. Most of the controls are a basic swipe, a (rediculously carefully controlled) thrust, a vertical lift or drop, and a wiggling. Now, granted, all of these motions would be comical if employed in an actual murder, they're about as realistic as a kindergartner's drawing of their mother. I dare say, society is no safer without Manhunt 2 being released on the Wii, or any other system for that matter, than if it were released.

i'm just 20 years but does it really matter? things can be seen from a lot of different points, and at the end of the day none of these points are approved, but one point will be "better" then one of the others,,, just like (no offence meant) religions,,, one person choses for a religion, the other for a different one,, it's what you want.
am i making any sense?? i hope so,, i would like to have a conversation with this Mr Thompson,,, but i guess he won't accept it because i'm a "no one" in this world,
please,, keep the games in the game (no life is not a game i'm just trying to make it sound interesting for people who try to read comments,

Jack Thompson. A leader, and a visionary against violence. But, he has a much darker side then his public portrait has credited him for. Accepting bribes from the censorship commities to ban video games. Late night visits to hotel rooms with ladies of the night. He even visits public schools to lure children into his gingerbread house. He says he's trying to protect kids from violence, and his way of doing it? By saying he's a catholic preist and having them pull down his pants to "exorcise the demons of the video game industry."
Jack "off" Thompson. An a$$holes a$$hole. Trust your kids with him.
Paid for in part by the: I'm gonna have to take this worthless bi*ch outback and pop a cap in his skull foundation.
If I personally did that, while I watched him die I'd tell him the only game I ever played was about the insane plumber stomping on turtles. It's called Super Mario Biotch!

Your ratings as lawer
Speech: F
Annoying: A+
Should go away and leave the gamers ALONE!: Definite yes
What now? "Oh my, I'll sue Square Enix and many other game companies for brining gamers down the path of ruin, I don't want them to have fun".
Well, I got news for ya stupid lawyer; It's not the games that make people commit sinful acts. It's the people themselves that act out of their own instinct and will.

Theres going to be an added story that you have to stalk a lawyer name "Tack Johnson" and brutally murder him. You get extra points if you begin your carnage right when hes saying "Murder simulator".

This is ONLY happening because stupid parents don't follow the ratings.
Therefore , the BBFC and goverment get under pressure to stop these gamss from reaching minors.
If moronic parents won't do something about it , the only other choice is to start banning overly sexual/.violent games.
ANd it won't sell great , it's basiclly banned.

I say let me HAVE freedom, and let people play and do what they want to if their not hurting others. There is NO PROOF violent video games affect children any differently than violent movies or TV. So either ban all violent media (never would happen), or stop grinding your foot into the First Amendment.
Stop trying to legislate morality. It's this kind of thinking that makes people intrude on other people's rights. Just because you choose to live your life without violent video games doesn't mean everyone else has too. Pretty soon they'll be trying to burn athiets and queers legally.
Libertarians Unite against this stupidity!

Wow...
A system that rates games based on content decided that a Horror Genre game based on 1st person murder should be rated A. oooooooh. How unexpected!!
It seems like it is always a good system until it doesn't suit your particular needs.
I will agree that Jack's words are poorly strung together and sound more like a child who got his way, but I have to agree with him. It proves that the rating system works. Violence is usually a rating of M. But taking on the role of a killer in 1st person horror is a little much.
It is not Censorship as many have already claimed. It will still be available for sale. All this means is that it will have an A on the box rather than an M or an E or a T. You'd think that they burned down Rockstar Games. Get a grip people. Censorship would be the outright banning of the game from release. Which this does not do.
If I have learned anything from reading the blogs and forums on the net, it is this.
1. The net community is composed of people mainly between the ages of 12-25.
2. Hypocrisy is quite prevalent. For example... Smoking is bad unless its pot. Violent video games do not beget violence but smoking ads force kids to smoke. Rating a game is censorship and must be stopped, but certain political factions should be silenced... etc.
3. The net community loves to complain.
4. Fact is as useful as sunscreen in a cave.
So, pipe down and let the game come to release and if you are able (18+ or have idiot parents) get the game and have fun. All this does is give a heads-up as to the content to otherwise unsuspecting consumers (idiot parents).

but even if take-two fixes the "problems" that there are in the game people are still going to milk it for its advantages.
FOR EXAMPLE: remember the D.C. snipers? they blamed it on HALO...
so honestly if this game is going to be released (i hope it does) people are just going to use it as a scape-goat and give Jack Thompson more fuel for this small fire that he is starting

The game probably will come out, only after a lot of censoring.
