Nintendo President and CEO Satoru Iwata posted a rather long article over at their company's official website regarding the Wii's new Gift-giving feature and new channel TV Program Guide. These were first revealed a couple of days ago but this is the first time that said features are discussed and explained in full detail.

In a nutshell, the Gift-giving option allows Nintendo Wii owners to send gifts to their friends in the form of Virtual Console games and WiiWare software. Aside from that, players also has the option to send in a message alongside the gift. Recipients, in turn, has the option to accept or decline the offer.

The new TV Program Guide channel, furthermore, is exactly what its name says - a channel that lets Wii owners view the TV program schedule on their shiny-white console. Iwata discussed that this particular program is very well under development since they want it to be as smooth and as user-friendly as possible.
