IGN mailbag: 2007 looking to get sweeter, Time Crisis talk shot down

We came across an interesting discussion at the Wii mailbag portion of IGN discussing how the remaining eight months of 2007 will play out in the game console arena. The discussion delved mostly on the prospect of big franchises coming up with new installments for all three systems and rumors of exclusives porting. At this point, the Wii seems to have the swagger.

Leading the charge for Nintendo's wonder system are flag-bearers Mario Galaxy, Metroid, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and NiGHTS, keeping fans busy hot off the heels of Super Paper Mario and Twilight Princess. As if that wasn't enough, hot prospects Wii Health Pack, Battalion Wars II, Mario Strikers Charged, Project H.A.M.M.E.R., Dragon Quest Swords, No More Heroes, Manhunt 2, Boogie, and Mario and Sonic at the Olympics are looming large.

That's not to say that the other consoles are without their share if big releases at this year's second half. The Xbox 360 will wreak some serious havoc once Halo 3, Too Human and Mass Effect hit the Microsoft console. With its ever-vibrant Xbox Live community, gamers will be kept occupied for months on end. Don't even get us started on Grand Theft Auto IV. It'll kick some serious thomps and outrage moral zealots everywhere. It's also a good reason to get a PlayStation 3 along with LittleBigPlanet.

Nintendo fans also seem to be eager to see more shooters in their turf. There's already a significant presence of the genre on the Wii, but fans are itching for games like Time Crisis to see how the Wiimote ups the fun factor. IGN, however, was quick to dismiss the idea, pointing to the title's exclusivity for the Xbox 360 and the PS3.

I seriously can't wait for Brawl to come out. I wish Nintendo would reveal a little more about gameplay and the characters. Has Nintendo revealed anything about which controller will be used? They said when it was first announced that Brawl will use the Classic Controller. Is that true?

NEVER read this essay because trash like human beings like you can’t even comprehend important lessons like this essay. Stop reading, kids. Still reading? You kids just never listen to others... sigh.

I graduated my university in Japan then got my job as an engineer about 2 years ago. I feel sorry for you, guys, moreover I feel sad and pathetic for your moms and dads. Your parents work every day so you kids can go to schools and buy school supplies, etc.

On the other hand, you guys live your own lives as if you are garbage. You kids will disagree with me; you guys will say you are not trash. Of course. Of course you can’t even realise what you really are because you are the trash itself. However, when other people see you they don’t even want to talk with you because it’s just a waste of time. Most of you game addicts have education of high school. You can become garbage collectors or truck drivers if you have high school diploma.

You kids just have some sort of virtual lives and crappy real lives which are just worthless, lifeless, stupid, pathetic, and sad. There’re many kind of addictions: smoking, drugs, computer/ video games, gambling, porn addiction, alcoholic, and so forth. All of the above are equally harmful in many ways on you. Things like drug are extensively bad for your physical being; some others like games are extensively bad for your mental being.

I read this statistic/ report which said that about 20% of all human beings are good and hard working people with at least university education; about 60% of all mankind is quite good and moderate people; then here, about 20% of all human beings on the planet are pure garbage (criminals, robbers, thugs, uneducated sorts, hookers, etc).

If you play computer/ video games 3 days a week or more, and more than 1 hour on one day, then you are classified as a game addict and this is a truth; no arguing on this matter, period. As I said, you don’t even realise that you are a game addict. You games addicted guys, you sad folks spend hours and hours to play various games every single day. Aren’t playing games enough for you, kids?

Merely wasting away your lives by playing games isn’t enough; therefore, you need to spend at least a few more hours every day to visit several game related websites to watch and read game videos, game screenshots, and game news articles which are all about games? It was very hard to find such worthless human beings (like you guys) during my university years because it was a university (a selected institution); however, during my old high school years, I have seen hundreds of trashy kids around me (because anyone can attend high school).

I have to give this very simple example to make your bone-heads understood. Those minorities who have university degrees, have jobs like doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc; then they earn somewhere between $100 and $600 per hour. Moreover, they only have to work 5 days a week, 7 hours per day (35 hours per week; they earn $50,000 per month - 25 times more than $2,000). They can enjoy the rest and live like real humans.

But, you trashy kids earn $7 per hour as bus drivers, store clerks, etc because your highest education is high school (most uneducated guys love to go to the malls to hang out, the malls are full of clerks). You have to work 7 days a week, 12 hours every single day (84 hours per week – that’s 2 to 3 times more than them; you earn $2,000 per month). You must work full-time in order to pay for food and apartment. You don’t even have enough free time; you live like dogs and garbage.

You will earn $14 per hour when you become 35 years old due to your work experience. Then, look around you and see other younger clerks. Those younger employees only receive $7 per hour; I’m sure you will feel satisfied and proud of yourselves. What a good way to achieve your self-esteem! (Sarcasm)

If you think it’s too harsh to talk about lives only based on money then... you want to talk about the qualities of lives now? Don’t make me laugh. Just don’t.

Excuse me sir/ma'am, but I believe you are mistaken in your stereotypes about gamers. I consider myself a gamer, and I don't appreciate you assuming that just because I am a gamer that I am stupid and cannot make something of my life. Just in case you were wondering, I am a high school student who is holding a 4.0 GPA and that is in all Honors classes. I also plan to graduate from college, which I plan to get to on scholarship. I play games because it is something that I enjoy, not because I have a crappy real life and I want a good simulated one.

It also takes guts to call someone stupid without using correct grammer, too. With statements like, "Things like drug are extensively bad for your physical being" and "You games addicted guys" really make you sound smart.

If your the kind of person that finds fulfillment in putting down others because of your own insecurities, best of luck to you. Just be warned, that is what will make people consider you trash instead of the people you put down.

Wait, are you evaluating your worth with money? Man, people like you give Asians a bad rep. You show at least 3 major signs of psychopathology , and I really hope you go get yourself checked out. Otherwise someone will shoot you. These are the people that earn $7 per hour as custodians at their your work, which I guess you're probably lucky enough not to go, since you probably skipped out on work for like a month to formulate this poorly-written essay which stinks of poor usage of the English language. Though, considering you have just gotten out of a Japanese University, working as an engineer at this point in your life, I probably make a lot more money than you. Sweet. That means I'm better than you.

I didn't read his entire article, just the responses. If we go by cash on life value, I don't make alot at 20 bucks an hour considering my level of education, but I rather enjoy it. I teach little kids how to make video games so gaming actually part of job. I look forward going to work and only having to support myself on that kind of pay, I live pretty damn comfortable.

But if I have no life and just surf gaming communities, I must be in the same boat as you, otherwise you wouldn't waste your so called life lurking on a gaming community.

not true u can also use the game cube controller like u can use in budokai tenkaichi 2 (wii) because u can also use your GC controller on VC games like STAR FOX or any VC game.really u dont need a classic controller as long as u have a game cube 1.

Let people live there lives the way they want to man the only time people waste their lives away is when they have low self esteem and are depressed and don't think they are will ever be happy, telling people they are trash is NOT helping them, I understand that you may not like it when people do these things to themselves but that is the way it is in this imperfect world which means people will not always make the right decisions, now when it comes on to the subject of videogames, I do not believe people can become addicted to videogames, videogames help people to take their minds off their problems and that is why some people play videogames for hours 3 or more times a week not to mention the fact that videogames is entertainment and can be alot of fun, also just because someone makes 2000 dollars a month does not make them trash some people are comfortable with the way they live, and having a lot of money does not make you happy their are plenty of rich people out their who are unhappy, depressed and have low self esteem.
