id Software walks out on ESA membership |
Ó
Another company has followed in the footsteps of Activision, Vivendi, and LucasArts as they all walked out on their respective memberships with the Entertainment Software Association (ESA). Texas-based video game company, id Software, joined the ranks of companies which have recently left the group. The company behind the classic FPS title Doom failed to reveal any details regarding its reason to leave the ESA. However, word has it that id may release a full statement some time today which may explain their actions. Earlier this month, id already expressed hesitation to join the upcoming E3 event.
With only 24 members left on the ESA roster, it raises the question whether more companies will follow suit in this exodus away from the video gaming association. Keep an eye on this space for more news regarding the ESA.

whoa lots of companys leavin esa just what is ESA anyways?
They Basicly Setup E3 thats what they do.
And on that note im GLAD that this is happining becuase E3 was retarded last year anyone who was lucky enough (or not so lucky i was there) knew that is was a suasage fest. They removed the heart of what E3 was no public+ No public Spectacles + No hype + No big sales numbers. Thats why all of these companys will be holding there own E3 style shindig not to far aways IF there where a new ESA ( god i would form one) They could Fix this whole issue with reallowing the public and catering to the devlopers and gaming markets needs.
i don't think anything can stop e3 pushing forward this year, but if things don't change, i don't think it'll look good for the event next year. they need to go back to the style of the original e3.
ahh thx uplink.
