How to watch DVD movies on Wii |

Frankly, not so many Wii users were impressed when Red Kawa released Wii Video 9. It is actually a video formatting program that only supports Motion JPEG Quicktime movies (.mov). Though grateful for the release, people still reasoned that the options are still limitless. Now, we've come across another program that will, if use with Wii Video 9, allow users to finally watch DVD movies on Wii.VirtualDub is a free program and can be downloaded via the Read link below. Before proceeding, make sure that your chosen movie is already stored in the hard drive in your PC. The file should be in either one of these formats: DivX, AVI, MPG or MOV. This is where VirtualDub comes in. After conversion, use Red Kawa's application to once more convert the files.
After those steps, you will now need an SD card. Take note that the converted file will not be compressed so be sure to get one with a large capacity. You can purchase 2GB SD cards on various retail markets for more or less US$ 50. Transfer your file to the SD card and then insert it to the Wii.
Proceed then to Photo Channel and choose Watch Video. That should do the trick.

Game consoles are for playing games, and they do it well. Take a look at the PS2, if you want to see a horrid example of a console playing a DVD. The XBox/X360 isn't much better. The PS3 probably isn't either.
If you've got the money for a big computer, 2gb SD Card, and all that mess... You can afford a DVD Player.

There's no solution, you only mentioned the problem with that post.

Imagine Playing Smash Bros Brawl for 12 hours straight trying to unlock every level and charater on the game, then going to the kitchen snatching up a Red Bull. Then pop in your brand new Anime that u purchased off Ebay instead of investing your money in some proactive skincare and watching it on ur Wii...
Just thought I'd put an image in the head of a few Nerds out there

way to catch attention with false statements. Converting DVD into poor Wii video format via Virtual Dub has nothing to do with "watching" DVD.

As for the ps3...its playback is flawless, especially bluray movies. Half the reason sony included a bluray player is so they could flood the market and win the high def wars over the competing HD-DVD format. Making the quality poor, on purpose, would prompt their customers to buy a HD-DVD player and thus lose the battle.
One more thing, the ability to play DIVX files on a home entertainment system is quite a useful tools...while I have a dvd collection into the hundreds, I have five times more DIVX/XVID movies...which allows me to watch those files on my TV and not my computer, which is possible with a dvd player, but normally a pain. Plus the Wii rocks :)

I don't have a DVD burner and want to watch a downloaded flick on my television, not my computer screen.
