Wii Homebrew- Wii64 Alpha - r3xx Released - Image 1Since the launch of the Wii Homebrew Channel is a phenomenal achievement for the Wii homebrew scene, it's only right other developers have cause to celebrate in their own ways.

In honor of the launch, developers tehpola, sepp256, and emu_kidid have released Wii64, a Nintendo 64 emulator for the Wii.

The N64 seems to be popular these days; developer Wally also released a beta of the Daedalus R14 for the PSP - the platform's own N64 homebrew emulator.

Reports say that the emulator is still slow, and there's still a lot of graphical issues, but nevertheless this is still great progress. Hopefully we'll get to see a fully working version in the near future. Here are the developer's notes:

What's New?
  • glN64 Port
  • MEM2 ROM Cache for Wii (fits 32MB ROMs)
  • libfat support (Front Slot & SD Gecko now work)
  • libsdcard support (RIP)
  • Save/Load on Wii Filesystem
  • Progressive video support
  • Embedded font support for Qoob users
  • Threaded audio
  • Various GX_gfx fixes
  • Reworked input plugin
  • Modular controller input
  • Classic controller support
  • Developer Features submenu
  • Toggle FPS/Debug display

Excellent, this will definitely develop faster than Daedalus with three developers versus one. Also StrmnNrmn hasn't been seen in a long time. Now all I need is a N64 controller attachment to the Wii.

Victory shall yet be mine!
