Rock Band 2 - Image 1You knew it was coming. We knew it was coming. And now it had arrived. Yes, the sequel to Rock Band (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii) has finally been announced and it looks like we're going to to be finding out more about it at E3.

In an interview with IGN, Harmonix lead designer Dan Teasdale gave out a few of details about the game including some of the changes the developers plan on implementing to make Rock Band 2 better.

According to Teasdale, one of the problems they found in the previous game involved the random set lists. He hit the nail on the head when he said that "nobody wants to play Green Grass and High Tides in their first random set list." From what he said it seems that they are going to be doing something about this. Too bad he didn't give out more details on this.

Teasdale also gave out some hints regarding what bands will be making it to Rock Band 2. While he couldn't explicitly give out a band list, he did say that gamers can expect to see some of these bands (this is by way of a wish list that IGN had, to which Teasdale replied with: "Not only have you named some of my favorite bands, but you've also named some of the bands that are on the Rock Band 2 disc."):
  • Agent Orange
  • The Beatles
  • Built to Spill
  • The Buzzcocks
  • Journey
  • Led Zeppelin
  • Modest Mouse
  • Pavement
  • The Replacements
  • Tool

One thing I think they should do for Rb2 as well in BWT: When you have downloaded songs, they could organize by either bands or difficulty, and let you switch songs. When I'm not doing BWT I never play any of the 'normal' songs because they're always played in bWT

I like all of those bands. Too bad my stats from the original rock band won't carry over to the new one. My band of 4 people was pretty epic.

» Finally.

TooL!! I cannot wait to play some Tool. It's about time.

Stinkfist

Pu*****

Jerk-Off

H.

Sober

Ticks & Leeches

Any one of their songs would be incredible to play.

I wonder which it will be.

They better give the Wii a complete version for the next release. >.>

» If they want to make it good,

Downloaded songs from RB 1 will transfer to the new game.

Change the overdrive color from orange to something that isn't the exact same color as bass pedal notes.

Fix the singing mechanic (don't fail out when you sing perfectly.)

Fix the solo mechanic (points for sounding good, not hitting as many random notes as possible.)

Remove the dumb looking random characters, especially the hobo!

Increase different looking crowd members from 5.

Make a better bass pedal that isn't spring loaded.

Continue to make the Wii version inferior and 6 months late to show just how obsolete the system is.

Plain and simple, this is the new recurring yearly cash cow. Guitar Hero I was innovative and cool. Guitar Hero II was awesome and perfected what I had created. No thank you to $60 for a song addon pack each year.

» sorry, I just had to

I just saw the Rock Band Wii commercial and realized I've been playing a far better version for the last 6 months.
