Harmonix Designer presentation slides draft let slip a LEGO Rock Band

Is there a LEGO Rock Band in the works? If we're going to base our answer on the recently-concluded GDC presentation of Harmonix senior designer Dan Teasdale, the answer would be no. However, if we are going to base it on his should-have-been presentation, that's quite a different matter altogether.

A PDF of the designer's earlier version for his design session showed slides that revealed the game in a timeline marked for 2009, sometime between Rock Band Unplugged and The Beatles: Rock Band.

As to why the slides delivered at the actual presentation made no mention of the LEGO Rock Band anywhere at all, we do not really know. Rumors of it being in development under Traveller's Tales have been afloat, though.

The slides also reportedly showed a few other Guitar Hero titles listed, and supposedly lined up for future development (yes, it's definitely not over!), including the more-buzzed about rumor of a Guitar Hero: Van Halen.

We'll wait for official word from either Harmonix or MTV Games - or both will be better - but in the meantime, just stick around for development on this news.

Why would a HMX designer have plans listed for the GH series?

The slide in question had to deal with the saturation of the music simulation series. If you look closely, you'll see it deals with past, present and future titles (from GH1 through to the end of this year), and you can see just how much Activision is hurting the genre by churning out title after title after title, and how that compares to Harmonix' own release schedule.

Not even all of those Guitar Hero's were released. Like GH:Modern never popped up. Not to mention that they have Rock Band: Unplugged under 2008, so if it was an actual game in the works, it no longer is. Unless it's going to appear in 2010.

Rock Band: Unplugged is for PSP and it's coming out this year.

About the chart: Yeah, ever since Activision got a hold of GH, they're making the entire genre look bad. That DS version really pissed me off because it's nothing like playing a guitar, and the game itself was quite stupid. The strumming mechanic was wonky and caused a lot of people to stop playing altogether.

Now, they're doing Sing Hero and DJ Hero, Sing Hero is annoyingly stupid. Why would you make that when you can already do vocals by yourself on GHWT? Competing with Singstar is stupid because Singstar will still be the better game.

Dj Hero seems promising, and it's gonna have some of my favorite artists from that genre (techno and house) so I'll wait to see what that's like.

ATV is really getting on my nerves. I thought they were done with Metallica for this year but WTF!?!?!
