You'd have to wait for OperaA few days back, we reported about that Wii hack which enabled surfing the net through the Wii's Shopping Channel without waiting for the Opera browser to be operational on it. But it seems the surfing days on the Wii is over...well, until the Opera browser kicks in.

Apparently, the update issued by Nintendo ended the hacked, net-surfing days. According to something we found over at Dustin Software Online, the hacked console was happily surfing Yahoo and Google as the server did all the DNS redirection. When he (or she) updated the firmware, the hack didn't work anymore. It looks like you'd have to shell out some Benjamins for Ninty's official browser. Well, the best things in life may be free, but nowadays, everything seems to come with a price.

But yeah.....it the broswer free and if you are perfectly capable of getting a Wii before June and don't then you deserve to pay that broswer.

firmware "security"

That's the part I don't like about firmware updates... Not that I was planning on using anything online anyway...

Nintendo is high if it thinks it can sell a web browser on a system with 64 meg or ram and no HD (read: VERY VERY bad web browsing....)

Yea, the browser gonna be free at first. And Shatterdouche...the Wii supports 480p, whitch should be enough to make text online readable...and an update could possibly enable other "real HD" resoulutions as well.
