Guitar Hero goes wireless, at last - Image 1

We're not quite sure just how many people may have seen this coming, but here it is. In Activision's recent preliminary financial report, CEO Mike Griffith mentioned that Guitar Hero will be finding its way to the Wii. He didn't specify when, and only hinted that it may or may not be around by 2008. To quote:

The key difference in our strategy versus the prior cycle, is that in addition to full support on Sony and Microsoft platforms, we will aggressively target the Nintendo platforms consistent with our multi-platform strategy and NintendoÂ’s expected growth. In fiscal 2008, we will double our offerings on the DS and the Wii, including Spider-Man, Shrek, Transformers, and Guitar Hero.

Since those words came from Activision's head honcho, that makes it pretty difficult to dismiss this piece of news. Now, the only thing that's left to do would be to wait for that long-awaited press release to drop in our mailbox.

Sweet!

Haha, cool, I was just playing Frets on Fire with the Wii controller and GlovePIE script. Now I'm getting the real thing.

yep

This is awesome, but i wonder if it will be using any of the motion sensory capabilities of the wii. I read an interview where nintendo was dying for guitar hero to make its way to the wii... so i would only hope they would add more to it. The only thing I could see possible is maybe a motion sensor guitar that senses your movements (like, if you play with it on top of your head the character will put the guitar on top of his head or if you spin around, etc). other than that, dont see any other types of new ways to play.

no remote for this one, please

They should just use the guitar. If they change anything, it would be probably be the responsiveness of star power.

yea

this is a great game for the wii bc it doesnt need good graphics to be an awesoem game

Control experience

They should make some kind of guitar shell that the wiimote plugs into so it can handle the wireless and tilt sensitivity while the guitar remains intact.

Hard to decide!

Well I have a Wii60, I dont know which systems to get it for. The 360 or Wii. Anyone??

...

I'll be going for the 360 version for the downloadable content. Although the Wii could _theoreticly_ deal with that I can't see Nintendo ever getting their asses really sorted out with online.

screw online content

that's such trash... i have a 360, soon a ps3 if i find money, and a wii... But...I don't really care that much, honestly. I've been playing my fav system more than those three lately (GBA/SNES) FF5 and FF6 like crazy...soon, i'll replay chrono trigger...Then finish Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter, then play FF tactics over again, then finish Terranigma, then Sacred Stones, then Xenogears over again, and then I need to play Vagrant Story (for the first time!)...Next Gen...Who needs it?
