Guitar Hero III won't need a new peripheral

Guitar Hero III! - Image 1Destructoid recently noted a fairly inconspicuous piece of reading from the recent Guitar Hero III (PS2, Wii, PS3, Xbox 360) press release that may have thrown some fans into a rock-induced consumer rage. Luckily, they managed to set the record straight with a bit of news: there's no need to buy a new peripheral for Guitar Hero III.

The part of the press release that made fans worry? Well, it's about a new color scheme for the buttons that will come with the new Gibson guitar peripheral:

The exclusive Gibson guitars will include innovative features such as removable faceplates that will allow fans to later personalize their guitars and make it their own, and a new button color design that will be integrated for an even greater authentic feel and rock experience.

Some took it to mean there'd be a need to get a new guitar once the game came out.

That isn't the case, however. RedOctane's Brian Lam told Destructoid that "The new color button design will definitely not affect the actual game play. Rather it is merely for a more authentic rock look and feel, and the SG and X-Plorer guitars will still work with their specific platform for the next Guitar Hero title." That's definitely good news for the sharp-eyed people who may have been concerned by the announcement.
